How accurate is the Savage 10fp in .308 win? I've only heard good things about this rifle. Would it be suitable for deer (.308)? Also what are the specifications? Weight, length of pull, recoil. And also, when I'm looking online, the stock looks pretty cheap and uncomfortable, does it feel good or is it bad? What kind of groupings can I expect at 100 and 200 yards? What's a good yet cheap scope for this?

Also what about the 11f models?

Savage rifles are excellent guns. Savage makes a law enforcement / sniper version that will shoot less that an inch and a half at 300 yards, that is if you are capable of shooting it that well.

The problem with that particular gun is it weight about 12 pounds. While not particularly heavy, 12 pounds is a LOT for a rifle. Most hunters prefer a gun that weighs in the 6-8 pound category.

Savage rifles are well made actions and barrels, but the stocks do lack some finishing touches. There are aftermarket stocks that provide more rigidity and less flex and in the sniper version the stock can be had by some of the premium stock makers in the industry.

Savage accu triggers are an amazing invention and allow for very good out of the box triggers. If you buy a Savage, you have the start of a very fine but affordable rifle. The only thing they lack is a great stock and a great scope. But then they wouldn't be as affordable if they had everything.

Savage rifles are very accurate. I had a 110 tactical rifle with a bull barrel, and let me tell you 300 yards wasn't nothing. I could group 5 shots and cover them with a quarter @ 300 yards. The only down-side to the rifle is re-sale.Check out the specs @ savagearms.com and you can find out everything you need to know. And far as deer, the 308 is also a great caliber for hunting, you should have no problem what so ever.

I have a Savage 12BVSS in 300WSM and it prints cloverleaf 3 shot groups at 100 yards with no trouble what so ever. If I get it right you can barely tell there's more than one round through the hole. It shoots as well as I can hold the gun. First time I shot it the guy at the next bench with the loud mouth and the $3500 tactical rifle shut up and left when he saw how it shot, he was useless and couldn't group 3". I love big mouths who can't shoot. The accutrigger is a dream, safe and yet so light you can hardly feel it dent you finger before the rifle shoots. My friend liked my Savage so much that he went out and bought a 10 and a 110!

Savage has been around since the 1800's and is a very good weapon superior to remingtons 700 series riles and better than winchesters imo..... I have the Savage 30-06 110 with the accu trigger and it is great for deer.... of course you have recoil with a bolt action rifle.... with the accu trigger the trigger pull is like nothing.... I have a black synthetic stock and it feels nice, not cheap, the action is smooth and solid..... at 100 and 200 meters you should have 3 round shot groups the size of a nickel, if you can hold the weapon that still......

You won't be disappointed with a Savage ever.* I prefer the 30-06 myself because you have a greater variety of bullet weights to choose from.*

Savage is an okay brand of gun. It isn't as high quality as, say, Browning, Winchester, or Beretta...but they are okay weapons.
