I'm interested in a girl who lives about 45 minutes away. We live in the same metropolitan area so it would be fairly easy to see each other semi-regularly. Any suggestions on how I should move forward with this?

^^ your the shortest LDR i've heard about so far. I've been in one for 4 years, my bf lives in Germany and i live in US. Since you get to see eachother semi regularly then it shouldn't be too bad. Talk to her and let he know how you feel. If she feels the same way then start finding ways to meet up, if you can't meet up then try some of these.... get webcams so you can see eachother online, letters are great cause they are more personal and its fun to get surprises in the mail. You can plan to meet half way and go places together. Its doable, just have to see how she feels. Good luck, email me if you have more questions :)

go for it. communication is key and so is visiting each other.
i had a long distance realtionship through 3000 miles for 13 years and even got engaged. that was really hard but if you really care, it can work.

say hello??? ---- and seriously 45 mins is NOT a long distance relationship ---- i mean even teenagers without a car can negotiate that without too much trouble on a regular basis
