I live in Alaska but have hunted hogs in a few of the Southern states. And yes the 44 mag will do the job with good bullet placement. The heavier 300gr and the 320 grain work better than the lighter rounds.
But there are many lever action rifles in much bigger rounds like the 45-70 that will definitely take a big hog or bear down. But the 44 mag is too small to risk your life against a brown bear, albeit people have done so here in Alaska. But some big bears here have taken over 5 rounds from a 338 Norma mag rifle before stopping.

I just have to clarify something. A 44 mag can kill a hog, deer ,bear, elephant and about and thing that walks the earth given the right circumstances. A lady in Canada killed a big Grizzly with a 22 rim fire rifle. But what is prudent? Hogs no problem, deer no problem heck I killed an Elk with the mighty 44 mag. BUT! Did you know that the 30-06 has more foot pounds of energy at over 300 yards than the 44 mag has at the muzzle?
What I am saying is yes the 44 mag is good for hogs and the Henry lever action is one fine rifle. But the fact is the 44 mag is puny compared to many rifle cartridges. A 44 mag can have between 600 ft lbs to over 1300 ft lbs of energy. Where as most center fire large bore rifle have far more power, like the 30-06 has around 2800 foot pounds of energy.
I have hunted big game all over America and have reloaded for over 40 years. And every cartridge has its use and limits.
Some folks think the 44 mag is a magic wand but its not. I have worked for Outfitters in the Rocky Mountains and here in Alaska and sooner or later some idiot tries to take long shots at big game with the 44 mag and we have to finish it off because they just wounded it.

A .44 Mag rifle is almost perfect for hog hunting in close terrain/brush.
A .44 mag handgun will certainly kill a hog with proper bullet placement.
The only downside I see is that the reciever of the Golden Boy is a bit shiny.
That rifle will certainly take hog at short to medium range.
I've personally shot Florida feral hogs with a .30-06 rifle and a 10mm handgun.
If a 10mm pistol can reliably kill a hog then a .44mag rifle will undoubtably do the trick.

44 Rem Mag is a great cartridge for hogs. In my part of the world, they like staying in or near the thick stuff, like canebrakes, and either a revolver or a little lever-action carbine is great for that kind of work. I can't speak for the Henry, but I can tell you a converted Winchester 92 works very well. I've used handloads with bullets up to 300 grains, but even a load with velocities between 44 Spl and normal 44 Mag speeds with a 240 grain Keith type cast bullet is plenty for the job, especially if you're like me and look more for a 150 pound sow to eat than a 350 pound boar to brag about.

It's the perfect hog carbine caliber.
Another perfect hog carbine caliber is 44-40, someone up there said it too. I'd rather go hoggin with the 44-40 than a 44mag only because if i miss, especially in dense brush, the 44-40 doesnt beat you up as much as a 44mag would, giving you a faster follow up shot if needed. A chargin razorback doesn't care if you're still shook from recoil, he's comin' and he's comin' right now.

Yes, a .44 Magnum carbine can kill a hog if you do your part. They've even been taken with the .44 Magnum handgun, of course, we're talking short range here. Say fifty to sixty yards.
Best.

If an elephant can be killed with a .44 RemMag revolver, you can kill hogs with a .44 RemMag carbine until you run out of ammo or hogs.

I was shooting a 44-40 golden boy today, I feel certain that one in 44magnum will suit your purposes. You'll like the Henry, very smooth action. Like the others said, the cartridge will do its job when you do yours right. Proper shot placement and the right ammunition.

How big and ornery is that hog and how willing are you to go down under him if that pistol cartridge fails to stop him?
It's never wrong to carry more gun than you "think" will do the job, especially when dealing with dangerous game, or even where you "just might" run into dangerous game while hunting something else.
