They aren't going away now, are they. The so called war on drugs, has had little effect on the drug trade, wouldn't you say. So, regulate them! People are always going to be looking for that new and mind bending drug. So... with the assistance of the pharmaceutical companies, [who stand to make astronomical amounts of money] the street drugs would no longer be a lucrative illegal business. All recreational drugs would be produced legally and regulated. The life threatening side effects of the street drugs, would probably be totally eliminated. The drug lords would be out of business. Wasn't that the point of the "war on drugs?" That's my solution because drugs of EVERY kind are never going to go away and are only going to get more dangerous and more lethal.

I don't think so. Are people well educated enough to know exactly what they're doing and what the effects are of substances? The only way I think they should be legalized is if they are prescribed and monitored by a physician, otherwise there would be too many mishaps.

Sure then the government came make more money by taxing the hell of it like cigarettes and booze. Pot is legal in the Netherlands and they have far less crime and addicts than we do.
