How do you know when is the right time to break up with someone and how can you be sure that you won't regret it later on? I am having mixed thoughts and feelings. I really do like this guy (we've been seeing each other 10 months now) and I don't wanna call it quits with him.

However i don't know if i want to stay either, ya know?
Just little things like its been so long and we still havent said I love you.. I don't really know why but I do know that I love HIM, not sure vice versa though.

And we haven't had sex. He's still a virign (and so am I) and I think that he knows we're getting close and is just waiting around for the sex he thinks he's going to be getting soon.

He is insensitive and says little things that are stupid, but that make me question his motives and our relatonship.. stuff like putting me down- in a joking way..

I don't Know!! Can't tell if i am overreacting or if I have valid concerns!! I DON'T want to do anything I'll regret later on!!

How can you tell!? When is it worth pursuing and worth letting go of?

Wow

Tough question.

A couple of ways you can go with this - you can discuss it with him and give him an opportunity to change.

Or you can just cut him loose - break up and move on.

Either way, you're saying the way he treats you is intolerable and you can't handle it. That's a good argument for breaking up and moving on. You are relatively early in the relationship from the commitment point of view.

However if you think he has the capacity to change, perhaps you could talk it over with him and see what he says. If he shows signs of understanding, if he shows signs of trying to change maybe it's worth persisting?

The drawback of just breaking up is that he won't learn.

But is it worth the effort?
