There are about 80 thousand personnel in the Armed Forces of Canada. They have participated in every Peace Keeping Mission under Chapter Six of the UN Charter and every Peace Enforcement Mission under Chapter Seven of the UN Charter since the UN was first started. No other nation can match that record. They are the world's policemen.
At present they are also providing troops in the NATO mission in Afghanistan. After the attack on America of September 11, 2001 NATO invoked Article 5 of the Treaty of Washington which says that an attack on any one NATO member is an attack on all. Since Canada is in NATO, they stepped up to the plate early in the war.
I had the honor many years ago of going on maneuvers with the 2nd Princess Patricia Regiment of the Canadian Armed Forces (2PP). It's one of their most decorated units and I was proud to train with them.
As I write this there are Canadian officers at Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado serving in the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD). They are fine allies.

Yes, Canada has an army between 90-110 thousand. It has fought previously in the war of 1812, The Boer War, The First World War, Second World War, Korea, Bosnia and presently in Afghanistan.
Their military is pretty small considering their landmass but also its of a good size considering their population base of 32 or so million people.
The only enemies Canada has right now is the Taliban and Al Qaeda which it engages in combat in Afghanistan

yes we have a highly trained military. our army is much smaller then America's but our population is only bout 30 million. since we have a smaller military, we have better training than most other countries and most military members in Canada have more extensive training. we have a decent size on the global scale but really we have no real enemies. except for the ones in the war the Americans started. we also have the best air force in the world. our pilots regularly beat other countries in base training competitions.

Of course Canada has a military. Who do you think is fighting in Afghanistan? And does Canada have enemies? Sure - but not many. Canada's role in world emergencies has largely tended to be toward relief efforts and assisting nations in distress - for example, Canada sent a Mars water bomber to California recently, to help with the wildfire emergency.
