Sometimes I hear christians comment that we are a wealthy country because it's a blessing from God. I tend to think more on it as Americas wealthy because we exploite mans own weakness, greed.

Neither, because seeking for wealth and greediness are actions of freewill.

Neither. Wealth is nothing!

I'm not rich, but I'm satisfied. I am so blessed with modern western life, from instant entertainment to

air conditioning.

The computer I'm using is a dog-type loyal "friend" that does not judge me, but is up for fun whenever

I want to do something on it.

The richest millionaires of the past could not buy such luxuries, despite all their money.

I am happy with my blessings, and that makes me "wealthy". Satisfaction is "riches"!!!

When a reporter asked filthy-rich Rockefeller, if there could still be anything that even he could possibly want?!

He answered "MORE!"

There's ALWAYS more, or better, for the rich to pursue!

"The grass is always greener over the septic tank."

It is like a dog chasing it's tail.

Store up treasures in heaven, where rust and robbers can't take it away!!!

Character trumps wealth...and you CAN take it with you!!!

The only true wealth in this sin-cursed world is satisfaction! Paul said "I know how to be content in any state, whether I abound or am abased."

1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

He does not charge the wealthy with sin. The reason is that a man can obtain wealth without especially desiring it or aggressively pursuing it. It may simply be the result of conscientious work. Or it may come into his hands by inheritance, unusual appreciation of investments, windfall profits, or other means which are essentially acts of God.

The Bible teaches that although to be wealthy is not sinful, it is not safe. There are four principal dangers in wealth, and a wealthy person must be constantly on guard against them.

In the text quoted above, in 1 Timothy 6:17, Paul cautions the wealthy not to be "highminded"; that is, not to be proud.
Also, he tells them not to "trust in uncertain riches." The danger is that they will acquire an attitude of self-sufficiency, and with this attitude a failure to be grateful to God for His blessings, and a failure to trust God for future provision.
Another pitfall for the rich is stinginess.

Wealth is neither good nor evil, in and of itself.
It can be acquired by any number of means, both good and evil.
It is frequently a blessing from God for the righteous (see Psalm 112).
But what will determine whether wealth is a true blessing is what we do with it.
Do we use it to glorify God, or to promote our selves?

Blessings only comes from God. Satan has no ability to bless. How people handle their wealth is a matter of either greed or good stewardship.

It depends. If you got your wealth through hard work, from God. Otherwise, it's self destruction like if the wealth was from George Bush giving tax breaks to the right.
BTW, we will be $1.6 trillion in debt by 2009 if the war keeps up, so we aren't wealthy. And those who are rich off the war have got their money from blood of the young.

I believe God chooses who gets wealth AND it is HE who lets you enjoy it. It's not the WEALTH that's the blessing as it is the ability to ENJOY it. that's why there are so many rich, miserable people and why there are happy poor people.

I agree with Paul in that I ask the Lord not for so much money that I forget Him and not for so little that I steal.

I am struggling with that one too. I guess it would depend on how you aquire wealth.I think in corporate business in America there is way too much greed. In the bible there are many scriptures that talk about god's promise to take care of those that are obedient to him. So I guess that would mean your material wealth would come with integrity and honesty.

If you have a place to live, have food on the table, clothes on your back, able to pay your bills and people you love that love you back you are blessed beyond belief. Too much money can ruin things. Lots of money isn't necesarrily a blessing.

Wealth is deceitful. If it was from God we should be using it to further the Kingdom of Heaven. But if it was from the devil we waste it on ourselves. Theres nothing wrong with having money and possessions, it is when they have you that the problem manifests.
