I have my direcy tv hd-dvr hooked up now but would like to know how or if there is a way to hook up my HD dvd player to view dvd's in HD as well

Use component cables for the other device. You will have to send the audio to your receiver or use the L/R analog outputs from one of the box's to the TV if you dont have a Surround Sound receiver.

Or - buy a HDMI switch. Cheap ones are about $100. The better ones can handle 3,4 inputs and use a remote.

You would have to buy a stereo receiver with the appropriate amount of HD inputs, hook that up to your TV, and then hook up all other HD components (HD-DVR, HD-DVD player, etc.) through the receiver.

DVD players are not HD, so just use component cabling. (Pr Pb and Y)

if it a true hd dvr and dvd it will have hdmi connector on the back

If you have component connections u can use them, they can also handle hi def.
