I am a recent amputee and current have received a leg and wanted to get the extended warranty for 5,000. Wondering if it is tax deductible?

I believe that it would be a tax deduction as apart of the cost of the prosthetic leg. However, $5K for the warranty alone seems like a lot of money.

Yes it is, as a medical deduction subject to the usual rules incuding the 7.5% AGI limitation. If this is your only itemized deduction it won't be worth claiming it, unfortunately, as it is less than the standard deduction amount even before looking at the 7.5% AGI limitation.
