I am a 43 year-old woman who started taking Abilify two weeks ago. I started out at 5 mg, and now am taking 10 mg. I am 140 lbs. What are the most common and marked side effects? Ever since I increased the amount from 5 to 10, my vision is blurry, blurry, blurry. Common or not? Thanks.

here is an FDA link:

in the long term the drug promotes diabetes and uncontrolled muscle movments.

It is not uncommon for blurred vision, as you can see from the FDA literature at such and such dosage it occurs 3 times more than in the placebo group.

It use to be a few decades ago that powerful antipsychotic drugs were as rarely prescribed as there were psychotics in the population. But marketing pressure to create profits has changed that.

These powerfull psych pharmaceutical companies influence government policy. Our government now says that 1/3 of the population is mentally ill. Do you really believe that?

The way the market expands is by having the drug companies pour money into universities, the medical professors publish in the literature that normal behaviour is actually signs of deep psychosis, bipolar, or whatever, and that gives doctors freedom to label anyone from toddlers to senior citizens as being loco. Then you are in their power, and often the goverment ends up footing the bill.

It is about as moral as running an unjust war just so large corporations can bill for products and services related to the war.

In the bible it is called sorcery.

I had horrible side effects on 10 mg. Dizziness, feeling faint, something like restless leg syndrome and confusion as if I was high. It was on and off for about a month until I was raised to 20 mg. My psychiatrist told me that Abilify is a drug that sometimes gives people more side effects on lower doses than on higher doses. I'm up to 30 mg now and I'm completely fine. It's supposedly a 'weight neutral' drug so weight gain is not necessarily a side effect.

The blurriness may resolve as your body adjusts to the increased dose.Other common side effect would be tiredness, also some weight gain.
It can be a very helpful medication so keep in close touch with your doctor to monitor symptoms.
good luck!
