Wa Aleykum AsSalaam,
yes indeed, inshalla some day I will wear niqab. Possibly when I move back to Jordan. I live in the usa right now, and that is not too niqabi friendly if ya know what I mean.

First of all... that is a funny picture LOL!
I wear niqaab, and I'm not going to lie, it's not always easy. Sometimes you get comments and stares, but other times you get asked questions, so to me, it's a form of dawah. I'm not as strict with it as my sister and sister in law are. I wear it most places. I don't believe it is fard, many say it is, but it just depends on which fatwah you want to follow I think. Some imaans have told me it's fard, while others said it's sunnat.
Many people (not including my husband) encourage me to take it off because they say it's not fard, and I don't need to do it. Although I agree with what they are saying, I don't see why they have a problem with me wearing it; if you don't want to do it, then don't do it. But if someone else is doing it out of their free will, then that's their choice. My husband believes that in this day and age, it's very difficult to do it, and he told me that if I ever want to take it off for my safety, then he would understand.
But, I haven't let it take over my life. I still do the same things I used to do, when I only wore hijab. I live my life, go to the library, mall, school, etc.
I hope that answered your question.

No offense to any sisters accessible who do placed on the niqab, yet heavily, the niqab is very an interest getter and it is only portrayed as "too severe". The niqab isn't wajib, however the hijab is. So in my opinion I desire and advise the hijab.

Asalam alaykum,
sister niqab is one of those things that all scholars and people differ on so just use what you want as your best choice, Allah alim! I do not wear niqab but only hijab. I have the opposite situation my husband wishes that I would wear niqab, lol. But when we move back to Saudi I will be forces to wear it and not my choice. I agree that niqab causes to much attention in the USA which as a Muslimah we should not want. We should not want to cause scenes and have people staring at us. But I get those looks just with hijab so whatever I say we should all do what we want and he should be proud of you mashAllah not angry.

I wore the niqab during my high school years here in America, first to rebell against my family who wont allow me to wear the simple scarf. I went all the way to even wear gloves to freak my unlce out.lolz it worked he almost lost it.
Then I read about the niqab and loved it,
I like Ibn Taymiyyah's opinion on the subject he says it is wajib. But I dont wear it anymore, InshaAllaah when I make hijra I will.

Wsalaam.
Personally i would not wear it in today's society because its something people have not be able to accept. My own view is that it is not compulsory for a women to wear it as when the prophet (pbuh) said a women should cover the only part of her that should show he pointed to the hand and face so from that i get that the veil is not compulsory. so perhaps that is why i'm so lenient on the niqab. I support women who do wear it for whatever their reasons are. However i don't think i would find myself wearing it here in the UK.

The niqab actually was only supposed to be for the wives of Muhammad (pbuh). It doesn't pertain to the rest of us. It only came about, because it started as a fashion or a tradition.
However, if you would like to wear then go ahead as long as somebody is not forcing you. It is your body and your right. Also, if you feel that you would be more comfortable serving Allah(swt) then do what you think what is best for you. I just want to stress that the niqab shouldn't be forced upon women.
Personally I wouldn't wear the niqab, but I would wear the hijab.
Extra:
I must mention that I wrote above is my own opinion. There are arguments supporting the niqab.

when i was like 10/11 or so i was like "yah!!! niqabs are soo awesome!!" but now i think its not necessary (i know i will get thumbed down for that) BECAUSE I HAVENT READ ANYTHING SO FAR SAYING THAT ITS NECESSARY...but what i dont get...is that your not supposed to pray with niqab (from what i've been told), so why wear it everyday , i may come off sounding weird because what i am trying to convey is hard to put into words. but a husband shouldnt base his wife on society...
muslim/ah if you have any reliable hadith or Quran on this topic then please share...this is a good question, i wanna know =)
salaam
