wherever i am i always see someone crossing their legs (at the knee) i've seen so many people do it mainly women. my gilfriend always crosses her legs when she sits no matter what she is wearing. i was just curious why people do it, and do you notice when you do or out of habbit? is it really that comfortable?

Its habit more than comfort - we mimic it because we see other people do it. Some think that it is polite, but the correct way for a lady to sit is with her ankles crossed and to the side.

I didn't realize this was such a strange thing to do.

I'm a lady and don't want people staring at my lady parts... unless I invite them to do so. Crossing legs at your ankles makes you look like a prude. Gawd forbid anyone thought that of me.

And it's comfortable...

I've never done it as a matter of convention or to be "ladylike" but I'm fidgety and it's often more comfortable to cross my legs.

out of habbit most of the time others just bc it's the sexy way to sit, very lady like, for a guy it's that laid back look and it is very comfortable. it means your very secrure of your self and not just out there like a pinata

Yes, also it depends on the chairs, sometimes is more comfortable for the back.

because its comfortable and easier than putting your legs straight out which could kind of cramp up if you leave them like that too long.
