There are some things worth much more than life. Among these, according to john locke, are the right to life unthreatened, liberty, and the right to own personal property. HOWEVER, Locke also indicates that we live in a world where the strong are capable of taking from the weak (and can any time they please). The entire purpose of society, then, is to provide for the common defense of these rights by providing for:
1) basic infrastructure to support these rights
2) Education to propegate growth
3) Armed forces to defend these rights
In other words, without an armed forces, anyone can assault our freedoms at any time they choose. It's all well and good to be idealistic, of course, but history has shown that such idealistic based communities were short-lived in the face of reality (and cultures of violence)

It is possible, but it is not right. We have armed forces so that if we need to protect ourselves from invasion or attack by others we will be able to do it. Without armed forces we are sitting ducks. However, getting into a war for money, like the current war over oil, is immoral. WWII, however, was a war we had to fight because Hitler meant to take over the world and he said so. If we had not fought back most of us would have been exterminated by now.

Well, yes, if you are the type to let others be more important than yourself, then you can feel this way when you become a wife and mother. You sound as though you are depressed staying home with just the kiddies. If you do want to save your marriage and find peace within your home, get into counseling and find yourself again. Only you can make a martyr out of your self, and wallow in that behavior, and since you have come to the realization that this is not good for you and you don't like it, counseling is the best way out for you. There is some reason why you've done this to yourself, (and you've hinted that you've done it in the past), so talking to someone about it may help you to strengthen your will and become the woman that you want to be. Your husband will recall the woman he married, and your children will probably become better behaved since you will be able to delegate chores and discipline them better. Best wishes for your better mental health!

Retailers sell and people buy products Made in China knowing that their money goes to a regime responsible for ten times more executions than the rest of the World combined, extensive torture and injustice because the retailers make huge profits if the goods are Chinese, and consumers have been conned into believing their cheap.
Life is well down the list of priorities to Banks, Governments, Retailers when theres a profit to be made!

Because some honorable men and women put their life on the line so that others can do what they want. I think that your question is a bit immature. One can serve the nation without pay, sure. However the American Warrior is not a Warrior Monk. Besides Soldiers have families too.

In the past seventy-five years, five of the world's primary terrorists have put money before life:
* Joseph Stalin killed ten million of his countrymen and died peacefully in his sleep;
* Adolph Hitler killed six million Jews and then killed himself rather than face an international tribunal for his high crimes against humanity;
* Idi Amin killed two million people in Uganda, then retired in lavish exile to live out his days;
* Saddam Hussein killed a million Iraqis before being hanged by the puppet government installed by the Bush administration;
* George W. Bush has, so far, killed 675,000 Iraqis and 3,800 U.S. soldiers so that a handful of wealthy elitists, industrialists, oil barons, and power brokers can become wealthier and more powerful. He has yet to accept any responsibility for his unconstitutional, illegal, repulsive, obscene, immoral mass murders. Hopefully there's a special oil-soaked, blood-stained corner of Hell where Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and all their war-mongering friends can rot eternally. May GOD DAMN THEM ALL!!!
