If it hurts when you have been off it for a while, like when you get up in the morning and starts to feel a little better after you have been walking around for awhile, it could be Plantar Fasciaitis. It is an irritation of the ligaments that go along the bottom of the foot. People who are flat footed or have high arches seem to get it more often. Both my husband and I have had it. Shoes with really good heel support (tennis shoes) and good cushioning or orthotics and taking an antiinflamatory such as advil or aleve for a couple of weeks helps. In severe cases surgery may be required.

Apply an ice pack every evening before going to bed and in the morning before goin out. This will reduce the inflammation or any other pathology in the foot.

Heel spurs, dear.Search it, and you will see what it is and how to reduce the pain. A podiatrist can make you heel pads to alleviate it as well. I have them myself. Very painful.
