"The Bible says that soon God will make a change and that there will be no more suffering or death (Rev. 21:4)."

The bible was written so long ago, and yet people still say that SOON god will make a change. Soon is relative, especially when it was written so long ago. If this 'soon' has not come yet, then I would be inclined to say that god can see the whole of time. Therefore he knows that even the present now is 'soon', compared with the end of existence. This being the case, 'soon' could take hundreds, thousands, millions of years more.

This is purely theoretical. I don't actually believe it, but it is something that makes you think.

If I am not mistaking (I could be, who knows :) ) some of the authors lived near the end of the first century when they were awaiting the Second Coming because Jesus was supposed to come back soon. We are still living with that fear of the end of time because once every century we have a year starting with XX00 (1900, 2000, 2100). Their soon has passed a long time ago. And nothing happened.

This world was meant to be challenging, a world without pain or suffering would not bring out he most in the human spirit, and would be unhealthy spiritually. This is the reality that counts, and we need to start focusing on solving the problems we have here, rather than dreaming about some alternative reality we would like better. God will not give us an escape from reality in our future, ever.

Actually Revelation 21:4 states

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, for the old order has passed away."

This passage refers to the New Heaven and the New Earth.

The chapter that refers to His coming is Revelation 22:12

"Behold, I am coming soon. I bring with me the recompense I will give to each according to his deeds."

One fascinating item about Revelations is that it is the only book in the Bible where you are blessed simply by reading it.

Revelation 1:3

Blessed is the one who reads aloud and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near.
