i honestly think that I forgot how to pray normally i do a holy father and a hail marie and then take my Bible...but with school being so intense i dont do that but say a little personal prayer to God...i feel a rift between us so to avoid that i want to "relearn" how to pray again...any advice? obviously I'm a Roman Catholic, any CONSTRUCTIVE and UNBIAS advice will be appreciated, but if you feel like telling me i'm the whore of Babylon or i'm in the wrong faith or find God or whatever, I'll gladly ignore you. thank you in advance.

Religion is a means to a purpose it is not the device by which you are saved. I respect everyone's right to worship as they choose. We may both be going to Disney World but it doesn't mean we travel the same path to get there. However, your prayer time with God is important. Get up ten minutes early and give that time to God. Start your day with a thank you and prayer. It will help your day and your outlook start off on a good note. When you feel a rift and know it don't ignore it. It won't go away. God is not too busy for you and look at his schedule. 24/7....ask him to help you set this time aside so ya'll can get back on track. You will be surprised how easy it will become. Once you do this you are gonna feel better. The only one you are hurting by prolonging this is you....I'll pray for you in your busy struggle....God will be there for you, his child.

Hum... As long as it is from the heart and soul and is true to what you feel and think, no prayer is wrong (well, let me rephrase that: no positive prayer is wrong).
The rift that you feel between your God and yourself is in your own mind so trust your faith and trust your God. If you felt more connected when you said specific prayers and read your Bible, I'd suggest simply starting to do so again but, since school is so hectic, maybe divide your prayers in different parts like the Hail Marie in the morning, bible reading at night, etc.
Best of luck and I hope you will see the rift heal very soon.

Good question. This is the biased part of me talking. The hail mary's will get you no where...now the unbiased. If you feel that saying those prayers helps to draw you near to God, then pray them. Now let me give you some advice from the heart. Hebrews 4:16 says that we can approach the throne of Grace with boldness. Not arrogance, or in a demanding way, but in a humble way that at the same time is not afraid of a loving Father. So continue to say the personal prayers. Christ himself warned against habitual repetitive prayer in Matthew 6:7-8. I sometimes can't find the words to express what I'm feeling, so I find a song or verse that comes close to what I want to say and sing or recite that. But I don't see that as the only way to come to the Father. There is something to be said of the person that takes time out of their schedule, and locks themselves in their prayer closets, and waits upon the Lord. And as Isaiah says they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up on wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, walk and not be faint. I guess what I'm trying to get at is the fact that God will listen to you no matter what you say, in fact He will bless you by just spending alone time to talk with HIm, and more, listening to Him. Like I said if praying like that helps you then so be it, but please spend quality time with God.

Prayer is not something that is learned. It is the conversation from the heart. Your inner emotions, feelings, thoughts and desires are all exposed to God. Take a moment to thank God for your relationship with Him, and then relax and enjoy your time. In all situations know that He hears you and is listening.

i think of Christians that talk in tongues are improper. they think of that by some ability the spirit gets previous the innovations by making use of speaking an unknown language, yet I could ask, how does it help me, or advise something to God from me, if it would not make any experience? while they spoke in tongues in the hot testomony, the objective audience understood them, or somebody interpreted for persons who did no longer understand, yet somebody continuously understood. at present, tongues is nearly a badge of great spirituality that for the period of undemanding terms those with a "2d blessing" look to get carry of. i've got been via this, and that i come across that what is going on isn't non secular in any respect, that is attempting to fireplace up a non secular journey to validate our having been heard by making use of God. That seems to me to be a loss of religion, no longer an occasion of it. In any journey, do no longer enable it trojan horse you too plenty. Pentecostals are Christians as much as all and sundry, whether we disagree with the cost of their shouting "BottaYamahaShouldaBottaHonda" for 20 minutes.

I think I can see where your problem is. You started out well, but then you got negative in the second part of your question. I'll bet you're doing the same thing when you pray.
