In the Home God has established an order that puts man in a position where he is the head of the household.It is the same way in the Church that follows the truth of His Word today.The Minister is to be the head of the Church.Both the Home and the Church are to act as one body honoring God.If a Body has two heads it is a freak.When God' will is done in the Home or in the Church it is because the head thinks and performs to the image of God.This was God' will and original plan for us all.
Today God' plan has drifted, and we don't have to look very far to see that.I am ashamed to say this, but, tell the truth and shame the devil, amen.I see this in my own home at times.If it were not for my Wife's steadfastness and her love for the Lord this home would have fallen at times.I thank God for her everyday of my life, I really do.But this is not the way that God would have it to be in our home.His plan would be that I would remain in His image, bringing Him honor and glory for which He is worthy of.
Your children are not made in the image of a Mother or Father.Yet we esteem our children greater than ourselves.God expects the husband and father to act as He would.And what wonderful homes all of us would have if we were to do so.Our love would be as His, self sacrificing.
As for the woman being in the image of God I have furnished these scriptures.I hope they help.
Gal 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

God is a Spirit. His image is a Spirit. Humans are a spirit living in a temporary body. John 4:24

man = mankind = men and women. God is not a he or a she and He is a general term just like they call a ship "she". God created all in "His" image, meaning that men are the logical side of Him and women are the nurturing (or whatever good qualities you want to apply to either sex).
