Not based on any religious books that I've read. They may or may not direct one to the Bible, but they always bring you closer to Jesus, which is what it's all about anyway.

Dear Sunset,

I think the parable of the seeds is a good picture of why people reject or do not grow deep in the word of God. Most certainly the values of the world are at war with the values of God.

There are most certainly religious books that espouse values which are against the teachings of Jesus but, there are also books which encourage us to draw near to the Lord and instruct us on how to do that. A Christian needs both-- to read God's word and to learn from those who have deep walks with God.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Considering that the Bible is merely a collection of religious books (which is what "Bible" means), no. I find it confusing why God would stop delivering knowledge once He reached a certain number of books.

"OK, that's it, that's all they need to know."

No!

A just and loving God would want His people to be forever learning and coming closer to His ultimate wisdom. Not blindly obedient, but instead taking great glory and joy in the never-ending nature of His wisdom, and that means -- that requires -- a continuing exploration of religious understanding, even if it means considering the wisdom that he has given to others.

Isn't is the ultimate in arrogance to think that God would abandon all others and only deliver His wisdom to a select few? No! God is so loving that He delivers His wisdom to ALL OF US in ways that each of us can uniquely understand, and the key to finding His love is to come together and share what He has taught each of us.

We've ALL been given a small piece of the ultimate wisdom of God's love. And what a shame it is that we are so arrogant and fearful that we will not hear the message and knowledge that he gave to our brothers.

This is our ultimate undoing.

The "devil's" way is to keep us closed off by ourselves. His greatest fear is that, one day, we'll talk among ourselves and realize that God gave us all the wisdom that we need, making the devil impotent in his control over us.

So it is actually the devil who wants us to stay isolated, afraid to see God's wisdom, and thinking that all there is to know is contained in a FINITE version of God's wisdom, just a handful of books, and that is IT.

Know that the truth is never fearful to have light shined upon it.

No. Books based upon the bible are used as a source of translation. Just to gain a better understanding or get real life examples.

Isn't the Bible a religious book?

One of the ways. It is interesting that when someone tells you something you can always tell them that that is their opinion, and walk away from it, but when you read the Bible it is hard to tell God that something is just His opinion. Satan would far rather have us reading books about the Bible than the Bible. Another one is music. People wpould far rather listen to music that read the Bible. It makes them feel good, the Bible doesn't always do that.

No. I'm a Christian, and I read plenty of books aside from the Bible, both religious and secular.

Depends.
Could also be God's way of drawing non-Christians to the Bible...

No....Some men intend to keep you away from religions they don't like with some of such books, but I don't believe people are stupid. You cannot deceive most people unless the deception is agreeable to them and with their permission.
