Truth is the creator of FF7 stated he is very excited about the idea of a remake but Squaresoft has made no official announcement of a remake. They have indeed shown the remake of the opening but even then squaresoft officially stated that no remake was in progress. However I feel it is only a matter of time. If they can make a Final Fantasy X-2 which was simply an apolling display of reusing graphics then surely they can take the greatest selling game and remake it. They have to know it would make a profit. Heck, a FF7 remake would actually make people have a reason to buy a PS3. If sony isn't careful the PS3 will be they're end just like Sega...

You have to take into consideration that FFVII will get a remake at some point or another. I mean, FFI to FFVI all got remakes, so I don't see why FFVII to FFIX wouldn't get a remake. SquareEnix has remade everything that's FF in order to make more money, so it's just a matter of time before FFVII gets a remake. I think a lot of people will buy the game if it shows up on the PS3.

I doubt Sakaguchi said he would be excited about a remake of FFVII since he hates Sony, especially Kutaragi.

The PS3 isn't going anywhere. Sony is a well established company, unlike Sega that had to pull the plug on the Dreamcast. I think that by the end of next year the PS3 will surpass, or be just a few million units away from outselling the Xbox 360.

Don't forget that next year Final Fantasy XIII is coming out and that game will create a lot of craze worldwide for the PS3, but who knows, maybe SquareEnix will make a remake of Final Fantasy 7, only time will tell.

Square Enix had this to say to 20,000 signature petition for a remake: "Square Enix of Japan has no current plans to create a sequel or a remake to that title." I hope they do though and they're just keeping it secret. There is a technical demo for PS3 showing what FF7 would look like on the PS3:

You can see why this drove people who wanted a remake mad.

I hope so, seeing as how they just remade final fantasy tactics id say its a strong possibility. I know atleast 20 people who would play it through again, would be even better if they changed the battle system to make it more like 12.
