A free solution that converts a variety of audio and video files is called Super. It can convert your wav files to any audio file it supports, including mp3, aac, and etc. When you run the program, drag the wav file to the program and select your preferences. It's straightforward, you just need to read. This program is also remarkable for converting video files that you can post onto online video sites such as youtube. Also, you have all the options of a commercial solution such as cropping, etc. The download link is >>> http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/super.cfm .

You might see if aumpel, a shareware audio converter I've developed, would work for you. It can convert WAV to MP3, and it was designed to be simple to use (easy for inexperienced users).

You can download the free trial and see if it will work for you.

What you would do is add the files by either dragging them from "My Music" (or wherever) to the selection box, or clicking "Add" and browsing to where they are and selecting them that way.

Then, you would click "Change" and select a folder where you want all the MP3 files to end up. Click the convert button (the big arrow), and let it go to work.

When it finishes, the MP3 files will be in the new directory, and the WAV files will still be in their directories.

Thanks, JA

I've used CDex, which is free (last time I checked). It can convert between formats like .ogg and .mp3 and .wav and can also rip (record) from CDs.

in itunes, select the song you want, then go to advanced>convert selected to MP3. and if it says something other than MP3, go to the preferences and change the "import using" to MP3 encoder.
