Does anyone know a good site where i can get good Info on them or can someone tell me how they got famous

They were very good at gathering intelligence probably better than the CIA. Do a google search under FSB (KGB of today) they should have some history in english on the site.

The Committee for State Security was a combination of the NSA, CIA and FBI. As the "Sword and Shield" of the USSR, they quickly gained a reputation for utter ruthlessness and dogged determination in both finding out what the enemy knew and preventing the enemy from finding out state secrets of the USSR.
Therein lies their fame (or imfamy, depending on your point of view); the shouted phrase "State Security!" would bring any and all citizens of the USSR in range of hearing immediately to their knees, quivering in fear. Whatever a KGB agent decided to do to you, there was no recourse, no reprisal, and no mercy.
