What is the difference when man or the devil is trying to mold you into being something and when God is?

A strong personal relationship with God makes this easier. As far as a calling goes seems to me like something in the future or at least more rigid than how I like to think. In my A.M. prayers I tell the Lord I am willing to serve him that day as He sees fit

Proverbs 3:6
In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.

To me that means if you are obedient to the things you know that God has called you to do, then He will guide you to the place that He wants you to be. That is one of the wonderful things about being a Christian. We can relax... its not up to us.
