at the same time? I am asking because my friend just joined the US Army Reserves. He was active duty a few years ago, 4 years active duty as an 11B(infantry), and honorably discharged as an E5. Now he is a full time student and is collecting money monthly from his GI Bill. I think, about $1000 or so per month, I am not sure about the exact amount, somewhere around that amount.

But someone told him that as a reservist, he can get Tuition Assistance(TA). But he is not too sure, if he can get both GI Bill and TA at the same time.

Any one knows? He doesn't start drilling yet till next week, so he hasn't contacted his unit about this matter.

Any information you offer is greatly appreciated. If you don't know, please don't answer and just pretend you never read this. Thank you!

I really do not know, but when I came back from Vietnam and got out, using my GI Bill to go to school, which was something like $300.00 a month for living expenses, books and tuition and fees, that disallowed me from getting a student loan. I hope things have changed as I always thought that was unfair, and still do!

I think you need to read this as a lot is up to states and is complicated and I don't know your friends circumstances. You can go here and get the info: http://education.military.com/money-for-school/tuition-assistance/national-guard-tuition-assistance

When I left active duty and joined the National Guard because I could use my GI Bill and get tuition assistance. The reserves would only let me use one or the other. This was two years ago so things may have changed since then.

The guard is a activity and additionally think approximately to comprehend the thank you to apply all the advantages properly. Going from shield returned to lively would desire to be very tough even if different than you stick to for OCS, that's what I did. call spectacular instruments, see what their advantages are and make contact with the interior of reach universities to look in the event that they provide coaching breaks for armed forces. least confusing distinction is I used financial disaster 30 now no longer positioned up 9/11 GI bill. additionally you're able to run out of your positioned up 9/11 till now than med college is up besides the undeniable fact that which you would be waiting to besides the undeniable fact that use your state reward.
