My 6yr old little girl goes to a great elementary but the only issue I have is with how they handle lunch time. The kids can pick whatever they want for lunch , yes there is fruits and veggies available to them but they are not forced to take either one so mostly kids grab pizza or bagels with juice.
I try to pack my daughter at least 3 lunches a week and I always pack her healthy but good food like sushi, sandwhiches with an apple and crackers, chicken with corn you know good foods but she wont eat the lunch I packed her! she goes to the cafeteria and gets pizza ! I don't know what to do she would rather come home and get in trouble then to eat what I pack.Is there some way to get help from the school? I don't want my daughter to be unhealthy and I'm getting really tired of trying to punish her, it's not fair to either one of us. Please help.

My daughter loves sushi so thats not a problem and I don't give her money she has an automated card that still has money on it and because I'm a single working mom I like her to have it in case I don't have time to make her lunch

First talk with your daughter. Tell her that you pack her lunches so she can have a nice lunch from home. If she contunies talk with her teacher and tell him/her or whomever is in charge at lunch to make sure that she does not get lunch when you pack it. Also contact the people that provide the food for your school and see if they could come up with some healthy selections each day or try to engourage childrent to make healthier choices. The next time your daughter comes home with a full lunchbox, I suggest you stop giving her money on the days you do not have hotlunch for her.

My fiance's kids went through the same fase and this is what we did.

Where does she get the money to buy the pizza?
Schools have enough problems without trying to take the responsibility for what their students eat.

Why punish her? Besides liking the food more, she wants to be like the other kids. You have control over the other two meals.

I agree with the second answer.Call the lunch people, and tell them to decline your daughter's lunch if she has one.
Or somedays, take away her money cards:)
sushi sandwiches?kinda sound good!

Don't give her money on the days she's supposed to eat her lunch.

If that doesn't work, call the school, and have them refuse lunch to her on certain days.
