If there is no God, why hang out in R&S? It'd be like me hanging out in fashion tips...(I dress in thrift-store chic)
Maybe I should hang out in astrology and tell the folks there that there is no rational explaination for their beliefs, they are deluded, that astrology has been practiced by Napoleon, Hitler, and Nancy Reagan (a fine lady) and that it has been embraced by people who have done horrible things.
check this out, my friend and contact---you are far more polite than many of the atheists---this describes my core beliefs and also defines some of the core beliefs of atheists.

When people can discuss their beliefs in a logical way, without insulting everyone who doesn't believe like them, everyone can benefit from it.
Okay, this is going to get a lot of thumbs down, but I just want to be really clear on this: I do not hate atheists. There are lots of wonderful people in this section who happen to be atheists, that I would probably LOVE in real life.
Anyway, perhaps the problem that many Christians have with atheists is not the message, but the presentation. Look at some of the answers you've received so far (that happen to have a lot of thumbs-up from...well, guess who?). Really LOOK at them. "Christians can't handle common sense"? "Christians can't handle logic"? "Christians are offended by everything"? "Christians don't like to think"?Seriously, who made these people the judges of all of us?!
Why would I want to listen to people who think I'm stupid, illogical, opposed to common sense, delusional, uneducated, and brainwashed? Think about it.
If atheists here want to discuss their beliefs with myself and other Christians (and let's not forget the people of other religions as well!) in a RESPECTFUL manner, by all means DO! But this condescending attitude needs to go elsewhere.
I LIKE having atheists here, but I could do without the few that have nothing except for derision for us.
Not all Christians are the same. Most of us DO value the atheists who have something to contribute here.
Edit: Okay, maybe some of the answers I quoted were from other questions, lol. Sorry for venting, I just see too many of those answers.

Long ago, as a grad student, I used "believe" in a paper & my advisor jumped all over me. "As a scientist, one never has a belief. You may suspect, but be prepared to back up your suspicions with evidence." To believe will always contaminate scientific inquiry & is very likely to lead to incorrect conclusions.
People have a natural propensity to decide what an answer should be, before they start an investigation. To say that those trained in science are immune to that would be giving them too much credit... but they do try to avoid preconcieved ideas not based on evidence. Faith, by definition, is belief not based on supporting scientific evidence.
Therefore, argueing a belief, based upon an ancient book that cannot be verified as truth, is not a scientific arguement. The 2 sides are argueing from differing perspectives & neither has a chance of convincing the other.

Why can't atheists discuss our Christian beliefs with us without calling us stupid idiots and telling us that we deserve no respect, that we will always be enemies, and that THIS IS WAR?
An atheist told me the last 2 things in a PM and told me it would NEVER happen when I asked her if we might just agree to disagree. Want the name? I will give it to you if you desire.
How kind is that? How loving, open-minded, and respectful is that?
I DO have atheist friends here with whom I discuss both my beliefs and theirs.
Atheists who call names and who mock/ridicule Christians are not paving the pathway for open-minded, respectful dialogue.
Are WE that much of a threat?

Key word here is discuss. Several problems with that:
a) According to TOS, discussion is not the aim of Y!A and is basically forbidden - not a chat room
b) Discussion rarely comes up between Christians and atheists in any regard. Every post is an absolute - "this is the way it is" on both sides
c) Christians don't care to hear of your disbelief. They are supremely confident in their belief, so why bother is their response
d) Atheistss know more about the Bible than they do and this embarasses them
e) Everyone, myself including, seem to feel R&S is a place to rant so why give up some soapbox time for "discussion".

The only threat is to yourself. I try to listen to other points of view but there are time when they don't seem to make sense. One person attack me for simple pointing out that he was agnostic and not an atheist, I know the difference for I have been a agnostic but never an atheist, I have know there was a God since I was seven.

I'm a Christian. Sorry, but you're not a threat. I don't have a problem with atheists being in this section. It's interesting to have a wide variety of opinions instead of just one perspective.

I thank you on your honest words. I do think of that as long through fact the non secular positioned humanity previously their ideals we can all stay jointly in peace. i do no longer comprehend plenty approximately evangelical style of Christianity, yet i can declare that the type I even have considered has been very illiberal. i'd think of that fact is absolute. If fact replaced into printed to a undeniable team of human beings then it could be thoroughly clean. The year 2000 nonetheless has 33,000 diverse sects of Christianity. a buddy of mine who replaced into killed in try against had his funeral protested by using the Westboro baptists who only had to enable his mom and dad comprehend he replaced into burning in hell. I see what faith does to human beings in different international locations. I even have had human beings from diverse religions attempt to make an apology for the wear and tear their faith does by using saying they sense peace, convenience and so on from their god. all the fundamentalist non secular sense a communion with their God. i replaced into born into the Catholic faith, yet i don't have self belief any of it anymore. I do have appreciate for all and sundry to have self belief what they choose for as long because it does not injury, isolate, subjugate or persecute human beings. I do think of we've a protracted thank you to pass.

A christian is not more logical than an atheist. That's just plain immature.
I think, if you come on a site like this, you should be open and willing to discuss anything. If not, then just don't discuss it, but also don't be rude and closed-minded about it. Everyone is allowed to believe what they want to believe. You don't have to agree or disagree with it.
