I do it on purpose. It is a silly superstition. That is a redundancy by the way.

Dearie,
This is one of the few superstitions that makes common sense. Normally someone is on the ladder, and could drop something onto you, or the ladder could slip.
But really, the superstition came about because the ladder makes a triangle with the wall. Walking under it breaks the triangle.
People associated the triangle with the Trinity; in other words, "Father, Son, Holy Ghost". So breaking the triangle was defying or ignoring the Trinity.
Whether you believe in the Trinity or not, unless you are wearing a hard hat, I'd advise you not to walk under a ladder.
Have a nice day, dear!

Recently a man was coming down a ladder with a nail gun in his hand and forgot to take his finger off the trigger. Another man walked under the ladder, bumped the nose of the nail gun with his head causing it to shoot a nail into his brain.
Some "superstitions" are based on reality and are to help us avoid harm.

Superstition, unless the ladder is weak and wobbly, in which that case it probably is bad luck to walk under it, especially if someone is standing on it and it looks as though it might collapse.

It's superstition, but I don't like standing underneath ladders, incase something or someone falls.

You shouldn't walk under a ladder any way.
You could move the ladder and cause immediate injury or cause the ladder to become unstable.

As long as you check for a falling person and/or bucket of paint, it's just a superstition ;-)
