If the moon landings were faked for propoganda reasons, as many today contend, how can the emotionally convincing interviews with the former Apollo astronauts in the recent movie 'Shadow of the Moon' be explained?

Thank You, So Calattorney,
At this time when our Governments are so invested in supporting dubious views of the american global view and way of life it's great to be reminded of and affirmed in the view that the American people are esentially pioneers who, in the 60's embarked on one of the worlds greatest endeavours-to explore outer space. I was very moved by the footage and interviews form the movie 'Shadow of the Moon', and. having heard so much BS about how it was 'faked', I just wanted to put that queston out there to the American people. I hate the way your Govt and yours lie to the people but in this instance I am happy to say, God Bless America!

It's a scientific fact that we landed on the Moon. This is not an uninformed, subjective opinion, but rather an incontrovertible scientific fact. While there's a mountain of irrefutable evidence that absolutely proves that the landings were real, there's no actual evidence of a conspiracy.

The landings were a lot more than just pictures and videos. Conspiracy theorists are utterly unable to explain away the following:
1) Radio telescopes across the world detected the Apollo transmissions only when pointed at the Moon. If there hadn't been a ship on the Moon, they wouldn't have heard anything.
2) Three missions left retroreflectors on the Moon. Professional astronomers have detected these reflectors thousands of times and use them to precisely measure the distance to the Moon.
3) Geologists have scrutinized the Moon rocks and have positively concluded that the rocks formed on the Moon. There's no way for NASA to have faked them.
4) No scientist questions the lunar landings. Would the average Joe really notice a scientific irregularity that the world's greatest scientific minds would overlook? Of course not.

The conspiracy theory is little more than bad science, faulty common sense, half truths, and smoke and mirrors. See my source for a detailed refutation of the conspiracy argument. There's absolutely no room for opinion here - the landings happened.

Although my wife's father performed fuel calculations for the original Apollo landing, I'll spare you that speech. Instead, I will encourage you to watch two programs. The first show is called Conspiracy Moon Landing that it currently showing on the National Geographic Channel and it pretty much obliterates all of the popular conspiracy theories.

I would also encourage you to watch a movie called Capricorn One. Made it 1978, it is a fictional story about a fake mission to Mars. Although it is a science fiction story, it is a good example of how utterly impossible it would be to fake a moon landing for any length of time.

12 men walked on the moon from 1969 to 1972 and we have neither the resources nor the technology to pull off that big of a hoax for so long. Hundreds of thousands of people have worked on the space program. It would be far easier to put someone on the moon than to try and fake it and keep it secret for nearly 40 years.

The landings came at a time when our space program was ultra competitive with the former Soviet Union. Remember how big of a deal it was when Sputnik was put into orbit? They had the technology to monitor our moon shots and transmissions. Don't you think they would have called us out if they had evidence that it was all fake?

Perhaps the most definitive proof of our trip to the moon is what we left behind. For the last 35+ years, scientists have been beaming lasers to the moon and measuring the return times. How are they doing this? The beams are reflected back by equipment left on the moon on at 3 different locations.

Case closed.

The Moon landings weren't faked. They are historical facts, documented by thousands of photographs, hours of video, 800 kg. of Moon rocks, and millions of witnesses, including myself. Only a few paranoid cranks believe they were faked. The interviews with the Apollo astronauts are emotionally convincing because they are real.

The only people who think the moon landings were faked are a bunch of kids who did poorly on their SATs. These are the same people who think planes didn't bring down the World Trade Center, which flies in the face of all the evidence and eyewitness reports. Our only hope is that these individuals never emerge from their parents basement long enough to reproduce, thereby spoiling the gene pool for at least another generation.

They were faked, and the Earth is flat. Also, elves come out at night to make shoes, and trolls live under bridges to challenge those who wish to cross - or was that billygoats? Oh, and when you "fly" in a plane, you are not really going anywhere. They rotate the Earth - oh, wait. That's flat. Okay, they don't rotate it, they build a set that you stay on so you think you're in a new place. Yeah. That's the ticket!

As long as you know the moon landigs were for real, then you are okay. If someone wants to talk to you about it and try to convince you that they were fake, just say, "Have you ever put your ear to your girlfriend's bellybutton to see if you could hear the ocean?"

That should take the conversation to a higher plane, right away.

Another conspiracy theory - let it rest! This has been stated thousands of times since they walked on the moon.

Apollo was one of the U.S.A.'s finest hours.

To question it is a gross insult to what was once a proud tradition. It's tragic that it's come to this.
