All I know is from http://www.pantheon.org/articles/e/eir.html :
Eir ("mercy") is a minor Norse goddess of healing. She knew the secret powers of herbs, with which she could even resurrect the dead. She taught the art of healing only to women, who, in ancient Scandinavia, were the only physicians. She is the patroness of health-care workers, called on against sickness or injury. She is one of the goddesses on the mountain called Lyfia ("to heal through magic"), and gives both physical and psychic means of healing; shamanic healing, especially, falls into her realm
Eir is a companion of the goddess Frigg.

I have also heard She is a sort of patron goddess of Epileptics. Is this correct and what can you add?

There is not much about Eir in the Lore. But you are right in that she is a goddess of mercy as well as a handmaiden of Frigga. Healing, therefore, is her realm - but she is not against death! Sometimes death is a better method of mercy than life, and Eir doesn't have anything against death. This is coming from someone that has recently requested, and received, her aide. Today, we make the mistake of seeing death as an adversary - the opposite of healing. Eir does NOT make that distinction. Also, I never got the feeling that Eir was not able to care for herself. As one who can wield magic and heal (and raise the dead according to some), I'm sure few would threaten her.

Sorry had to add LOL at the "stones, herbs and whatever" that gets thrown in the with the lore. We do NOT do or think such things because our Ancestors didn't. That is what being a recon. We do it the way it was DONE,not the way we think it should be.
As far as corrections I'm going to be lazy and say ditto to Thrud. He pretty much covered it.

Im sorry hedge, but the stuf in that post makes me wanna vomit................

"Frigga has four Handmaidens"

How many???? According to the lore her handmaidens are Fulla, Hlín, Gná, Lofn, Sjöfn, Syn, Gefjon, Snotra, Eir, Vár, and Vör.

" With this in mind, The Goddess Eir will use Aromatherapy, Crystal Therapy, Stone Therapy, Counseling, and Chakra Balancing just to name a few alternative methods. Other methods that she has been known to use for healing are; Flower Essences, Herboloby, Shamanic Retrieval Techniques, and Massage."

what...the...fu*k???????? WHERE did you find this??????? this is such neo-wiccan fluffy crap is is making my head spin.

"One of the myths surrounding Eir told by Siegroa's personal revelation tells that; "Eir is an Elder Goddess. She was once in conflict with the male gods, a conflict resolved by the works of Sif, she is now especially championed by Thonar and Hoor. As a Goddess of healing, she cannot take revenge or become in involved in bloodshed. To obtain protection she could not afford Herself, she took refuge with Frigga and her women and lent Frigga her energies in Healing and Wortcunning. She may be called upon when there is need, for she will never stint her aid to any, be thay thrall or thane. Aesir of Overlord, an asks the same of her priestesses. Sigroa says that Eir wishes her priestesses to be chaste to aid the flow of the healing energies, and wants them to abstain from the flesh of animals, milk, alcohol and fruit when they call upon her. Also to be cleansed with smoke and sauna."

Is this someones UPG???? if it is, PLEASE for the love of the gods SAY SO..........

"The Goddess Eir uses the Runes, Berkana, Laguz, and Uruz to represent her. Green and white are her sacred colors. Her Sacred animals are the Cow, Raven, and The Butterfly. The birch tree is her holy tree. Copper is her mineral."

oh by the gods, what is with all of this new-age crap being thrust upon our gods??!!?? Please just stop alrteady.
