is it because there aren't any witches anymore (but then what about all the pagans, wiccans, etc. that are sooo in vogue these days) ... or is it that you've lost your nerve?

Because now we have microwave ovens. They do the job much faster, and produce less smoke.

Hello,

No longer since they became yuppies and traded their broomsticks in for BMW's.

Pastor Art is mistaken here. Certainly Catholics main interest was stamping out the threat of " heresy " and people did go to the stake but even in those times the Catholic authorities thought people who were flying broomsticks and kissing the Devil's rear end were not quite right in the head. It was the protestant churches that had the greater zeal on the witch hunts and burning the at the stakes. The likes of Matthew Hopkins through to Salem had nothing to do with the Catholic church.

Also Protestants had Catholics killed and burned as well starting with Calvin sending Michael Servetus to the stake

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

The Roman Catholic Church officially determined that "witches" did not exist, actually. The witch trials were mostly in Protestant countries. Therefore, a significant proportion of Western Christians never indulged in witch burning. Instead, they burned heretics.

Among Eastern Christians, burning at the stake was not done for religious reasons, as far as I know. Secular authorities, on the other hand, could be remarkably creative in their punishments.

Christians still burn and kill 'witches', and also kill and injure people who are accused of having 'demons' inside them.

Just because it's not happening next door, doesn't mean it's not happening.

And let's also take the time to remember that MOST 'witches' who are killed, tortured and harmed are WOMEN. It is never just about witchcraft, it is also about keeping women in line, women and whole communtiies in some cases.

Cheers :-)

Again applaud on the self ritiuous hurtful thoughts, May Jesus forgive your soul!

It needlessly adds to Global Warming.

Irregardless I would never burn a witch, but I did own a tanning salon in West Los Angeles. I have browned a few.

The fumes violate a number of Clean Air legislations and chemical pollution laws.

So the recommended procedure to deal with witches now involves a complicated series of ducks, duct-work, levers, and a small sausage pizza.

The whole thing is such a pain, that it's usually easier to drive the witch into the next county, and let them deal with it.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure of the time, but I think it was around the 15th century the church decided to portray witches as evil beings.

I think if Christians could they would be burning witches again and they would be burning gays on the griddle too not to mention each other if any of them stepped out of line.

We can't find anyone without sin to cast the first stone (or in this case, light the fire).

Also, we are no longer under Old Testament law.
