You know, its bad enough people can freely post here with 100% anonymity... but I think its totally stupid when they won't allow email! Are you afraid people might retaliate in response to outrageous remarks? What's the deal?

And some of these same people ask questions in their answers... how are we supposed to contact you?!?

about the spam... I've always allowed email, and haven't yet been "spammed"... maybe I haven't been around long enough...

Good Point. I get frustrated when i can not contact someone for further discussion.

I think they are trying to avoid hate mail however.

Some people don't allow email because they don't want to receive any fundie hate mail or any cloned sermons. Personally, I allow it, but only recently. I just take the hate mail with a grain of salt. Hey, some of it's kinda funny.

Probably for the same reason you have your Q&As private, and your name. Too many different types on this site, and I really don't wish to have my email loaded down with trash.
It makes getting the emails which I need more difficult. The site designers gave us plenty of means to comment further within the question itself.

CR 20 -- the email addresses are hidden so spam is not a problem..

I really do not want to get more spam that I do already.

If you want to respond then post comments to your question.

Edit:
Why are your Q&A's private? Why do you not allow IM?

How is this so different from blocking E-mail?

Those are retorical questions for you to think about. I really am not expecting an answer.

I allow email. But for some reason, whenever I reply calmly and rationally to hate mail, I never get a reply. How odd.

Some people send people bad comments, and it is understandable, my faith cannot be rocked and I don't take offense, I just don't read after the first bad word, and know that I must be doing something right for someone to want to go against me, the more we try to witness, the harder people are going to push us back.

Nope...just annoys the haters who would email me because I'm an atheist and saves me the trouble and irritation of reading hate mail.

Put it this way, I have left my email visible to others. I had received my fair share of verbal abuses and intimidations from those tolerant, nice and god fearing people.
