I am making a beef soup and I have always used fresh cilantro in it, but I bought some dried cilantro leaves and was wondering if you think it will work as well and give it the same cilantro flavor? I also just ran out of my fresh cilantro but if you think it will not be as good I will just go get more, but if it is good I would like to start using it in more of my cooking(it also saves me the chopping time.) Any help would be great. Thanks!

I think they would be fine... just not nearly as potent or flavorful

Stick with fresh cilantro it tasted quite different from the dried. BTW did you know coriander seeds are the seeds from cilantro? They to taste very different from fresh cilantro and add it near the end of cooking for a more potent and fresh cilantro taste we love so much. Good Luck!

If you are used to the fresh cilantro, I think you may notice a difference. I always try to use fresh ingredients because it tends to give a lot richer and bolder flavors.

It'll be fine, but you won't need as much. Dried herbs are more potent than fresh. Reduce tablespoons to teaspoons when substituting dried herbs for fresh; ie: two Tablespoons of fresh cilantro equals two teaspoons dried cilantro.

I think using the dried will be fine, once reconsituted it will give off the same flavor as the fresh.
