I first knew Che Guevara from the film "Motorcycle Dairy", and i have learned that Che is an important figure of Communism in Latin America. However, I don't understand one thing about his controversial life. He is a successful military leader. Even though he was both physically and mentally strong because he was once a rugby player and travelled around the Latin America, it is too unusual for this middle-class young man to know how to organize the insurgents successfully without a military trainning, and i hope to know the detail about this part of his life. I don't care about your political perspective, but i hope that somebody can answer this question. Thank you.

Your mistaken,

Che Guevara had no military or insurgent skills.

He was part of Castro's insurgency as a friend and fellow intellectual, not as a leader.

People forget that Castro has a doctorate degree.

After the Cuban insurgency, Che tried to become an insurgent leader first in the Congo,

He was driven out of the Congo in disgrace and many Cuban fighters were killed.

Che then moved to Bolivia and tried again.

Again he failed miserably and was caught and killed.

People tend to believe, that because Castro was a successful insurgent leader, that Che was also.

But there are not facts to support that,

In fact, the facts support that Che's main duty besides acting as a doctor, was to be Castro's friend and confidant.

Firstly, I don't think that you can refer to Che as being physically strong. He had very bad asthma. From memory he was rejected from the Argentinian army because of it. Yes he would have been fit, but if an asthma attack hit he needed adrenaline pretty quick. I also seem to remember that he started to play rugby to try to improve his asthma, I think that he rarely played a full game.

Che also led successful military campaigns, he was intelligent and very strong willed. However to call him a great military leader I think is a bit of a stretch. He received some military training in Mexico and then had success with Fidel's ousting of the unpopular Batista regime. I don't think that most of the troops he faced were crack soldiers; a lot probably had sympathy with Fidel's cause. Most other attempts to impose his ideas via military actions failed.

Edit:
Yes Che was initially in Fidel's forces as a doctor, but he eventually got promoted and led a group of men in various battles, taking weapons and a military barracks.

Because his Military Genius was a Myth. Look at his Bolivian Campaign, a complete Cluster F from start to finish.

He may have been good at executing unarmed Prisoners in Cuba, but he wound up the same way in the end.

i remember reading back in the day that he had been training in the mountains in mexico called the sierra maestra. maybe that's what helped him to keep in top physical and mental health--because they had to deal with harsh living conditions obviously and in a way that might've prepared him to keep mentally strong. also it's possible he might've learned a thing or two from fidel castro since he hung out with him a lot.
