I have a firm believe that unless you show me the scripture that says that. Surrounding scriptures that support that?
Is it in harmony with the rest of the bible teachings?
Never take anyones word for anything.
No matter how well meaning they may be.
Following a blind guide still makes you fall into a pit.
How many times has he read the bible? God went to a lot of trouble to provide his word and make it known to us.
We should read it for ourselves.
I was amazed that most children had not read the bible.
Yet, at the library they had a Harry Potter book. It was larger and much more complex than some of the new bibles in modern english. Most of the children had read at least one Harry potter book? They are large books that would fill a library. But most had read them all.

I suppose if you say "Christianity teaches" before you say "God says..." that you are about to show a difference between what Christianity says and some other religion.

God is not christian, jewish, muslim or any other religion he's just God, he is 'bigger' than any of than any religions. so if you say "God says..." make sure you really heard from God and you are not misrepresenting.

As for the " Christianity teaches that god says..." part that just away of identifying your beliefs about God to others as in you believe in the God of the bible whose son is Jesus Christ. In other words this what you (or whoever), through your interpretation of the bible believe God said or means.
