Tell them you didn't write it, and make them prove it's your signature. Tell them that it's just like a credit card charge and you should have to pay any fee. Get the right person on the phone!

There is no light way to tell your mom that You are the reason her check bounced. You made a mistake so you need to stand up and do the right thing sooner than later as the damage will continue to pile up. You made the choice to spend more than allowed so its only right to fix this Now! If you ever want to be trusted again you need to learn how to say I am sorry I screwed up and not let her think someone else is involved. Remember that if they think a crime is being committed, other peoples time is being wasted on your lack of respect.. Tell her now and get it over with! Good Luck

If I get any of those checks I shred them right away. Once when my shredder broke I tore them in little bitty pieces.
Your credit card company has a dispute dept. Call them and explain what happened. Who ever cashed that check (at the bank) should be held responsible, and they will check out who cashed it and they should give you credit for it.

You can tell the company you didn't do it and they have the burden of proof that you did. Does the signature match yours? Was there a video camera on the premises where the check was supposedly used?
You can fight it and should do so.

You should contact them IN WRITING, return receipt requested, and inform them that you did not write this check. Ask that the fees be waived.

Tell them that you didn't write it. They can't hold you liable without proving that it was you who wrote the check. I asked them to not send me those things anymore... they're such a liability.

Report it to the bank.
Then the bank will expect your fullest cooperation when they look into the matter.
if someone stole the check, they will be prosecuted for fraud.

you'll have to find out who wrote the check and press charges.
same thing happened to an ex-boyfriend of mine. his daughter stole it and he had to either press charges or pay it.
the bank ended up owning his house over it.
