If you're chatting with me in a public place & I think you're a decent person that I might want to get to know better - I might glance at your finger to see if you're wearing any obvious signs of being married.
If I saw that you had a ring on that finger - I'd ask you about it.
If my goal for just that evening was simply to have a one night stand - then I might take your number and contact you later ... but I wouldn't waste much more of your time or mine that night.

Boys your age probably won't be assuming that you're married; once you get into your 20s and 30s this might be more of an issue.
However, boys might assume the ring is a promise ring or some other kind of gift from a boyfriend. They'll still talk with you, but they will be less likely to flirt with you or ask you out.
I'd suggest wearing it on the ring finger of your right hand to symbolize your power over your destiny. Left-hand rings are about love and companionship and joining with another person; right-hand rings are about what you give yourself, what you earn for yourself, about loving and respecting yourself. So the right-hand would be very appropriate for a purity ring.

I let a guy know straight out that I don't sleep around or have sex outside of marriage. However, I don't have a purity ring. The word get out really fast about a girl's reputation. I have not had any problems with guys over this. They take it as a challenge and come after me real 'hot and heavy' then. To test me I suppose. But I am cool with it. Only the serious ones survive my challenge. All the others fall away. Honestly, I have a lot of fun with all of them. It's really amusing to me, how they cluster around me when I show up..... (all the wolf whistles and admiring compliments make me laugh).
Btw, I thought your question was interesting, so I gave you a star.

Im assuming that you're n middle or high school so the boys your age probably dont even know what a purity ring is! Lol... let alone knowing which finger is the wedding ring finger. Im sure its just another piece of jewelry to them. If they do know, and they decide not to talk to you because of it them they arent worth your time anyway! If they cant respect your morals, they wont respect YOU!

What a dilemma! If a guy thinks your married, but tries to pick you up, then he's definitely not the kind you want to be with. Yeah, it's certainly a risk your taking. I absolutely would interpret a ring on your left hand's ring finger to mean that you're not available (regardless of what the ring looks like -- many people don't use diamonds anymore).
I'd switch fingers. Or get a piercing to hang it on. : )

First of all I think it is great that you have chosen to wait that is great. My friend has a purity ring on and it never stops any boys talking to her. In fact the man she intends to marry was more attracted to her because he knew that she stood up for herself and was pure and had not contracted an STD which happens more often than people think and not just AIDS there are so many out there Congratulations and dont let anyone tell you not to wear it.

A chastity ring is something to be respected. If it looks like an engagement ring then guys may not talk to you as much... but if it is just a simple band or something that does not resemble a wedding ring it should not ward off the boys. Hopefully you will find someone who knows what your ring symbolizes and wants to date you knowing that they will have to wait. Good luck... and you have made a wonderful decision in waiting.

absolutely not! i wear one when i remember to put it on, but most guys don't even know what it is, and if they won't talk to you after they find out then you shouldn't be wasting your time on them anyway!
