43 credits won't garauntee you much, but it certainly can help. You can ask for E-3 paygrade upon enlistment. That is a little extra money, and allows you to progress to the next rank a little faster. If you had good grades that will help too. The recruiter can help you with this, becuase they want you to join, and help you out, you have to make sure its important to them, and to you. Explain that you've worked hard, and done well, and they will try and reflect that in your contract. 60 hours will for sure get you E3. It doesn't hurt to ask your recruiter what he/she can do for your hard work.

If you were to keep it up until you get 60 credit hours, you can go in as an E-3. I wish I had known that before I went in as an E-2 PFC in the Marines.
