I haven't found any Buddhist monks that are specifically identified as being Tibetan Buddhist, but there are several monks that claim the ability of healing powers similar to the "laying of hands" power claimed by certain Christian groups.

The most common monks claiming these powers are Japanese Buddhist. The technique is called Reiki that is said to have origins in original ancient Buddhist teachings, before the philosphy had spread to Japan.

Supposedly, the energy emmited by the monks hands generates heat and is a sign of the healing power is active. I remember seeing a video of practicioners able to project the waves of energy several inches from their hands. The monk would pass his hands several inches above the area to be healed, and the patients reported a feeling of heat in the part of the body even though the monk was not physically touching them. There was even a demonstration where someone holds a peice of paper and the monk is able to make it smolder and even set it on fire by channeling the same healing energy from his hands without touching it, just with a bit of finger wiggling and concentration.

It was years when I saw the vid, I though it was on an episode of Ripley's Believe It or Not, but I couldn't find the clip on YouTube.

Though Reiki is mainly practiced by Japanese Buddhist, I did come across vid about a Cambodian Buddhist monk also claiming to have healing powers, but it does not show him actually employing any healing techniques like Reiki.

It is possible that a few Tibetan Buddist may have claimed similar powers, but I could not find any specific articles or vids about them, only the Japanese Buddhist and the one Cambodian Buddhist.

Supposedly there are even associations and schools for Reiki practitioners.

China has been slaughtering the monks for decades. How much crap is someone supposed to take before they snap? So, it is ok for China to murder Tibetans, but not ok for Tibetans to finally have enough? Sounds like the Israel/Palestinian thing to me. Finally, Israel has enough of being bombed daily and they strike back, so now they are the bad guys. The world is getting freaky, enjoy talking about it now, but once we are a Chinese, Russian or Islamist nation we won't be able to.

Some have been documented by researchers to be able to raise the temperature of parts of their body by nearly twenty degrees, while their internal body temperature remains normal. Others have slept in sub zero temperatures, with no apparent discomfort, through the night in minimal clothing and on bare rock.

Ive heard of monks that as a group can lift large boulders using an apparent arrangement of sound produced by their voices and by basic instruments that they play in specific formations around the large stones.

There are many legends of monks who could levitate and/or 'jump-glide" impressive distances. Some date back hundreds of years, others more recently, like mark twain or other high profilers apparently having witnessed the feat.

Also, some monks have been documented to be able to decrease their metabolism by roughly 50-60%, which is impressive given when we sleep our metabolism only decreases by around 10-15%.

Meditation is wholly beneficial physically and psychologically, and is quite powerful to those who dedicate themselves to the discipline, it taps in to the human organism's natural biological systems and enables impressive capabilities.

For the people who are confused, There is a VIOLENT "incident" taking place in Tibet. People are flipping over cars, burning down shops, beating innocent Han Chinese civilians to death. You call that "peaceful" protest? What would your police force/government do if there are people doing those things on the streets?? You saw that on TV, and you trust words over images? It is obvious an organized crime against China by Dalai Lama who is always funded by anti-China foreign governments right at the moment before Olympics. Don't let the mass media trick you with game of words.

Ummmm, none. They don't even claim enlightenment. They are trying to attain enlightenment, and are willing to sacrifice everything that is worldly in order to do so. That's what sets them, and all other Buddhist monks, apart from lay Buddhists...

Errrr.... you must have watched one two many movies like the golden child. Buddhist monks, be they Theravada, Zen or Vajrayana do not claim to have any super powers. What Buddhism teaches you is the middle path, nothing in excess, neither euphoria nor deep depression, neither supreme riches, nor abject poverty, and that includes having superpowers, because 1. it leads to the desire to maintain and keep those superpowers 2. it leads to superior feelings as well.

Most would say these powers are natural, not supernatural, and achieved through meditation.
