I love Capstar... Works great but you have to use it for about 4 to 5 days in a row to really kill ALL the fleas depending on how infested your dog or cat is.... You can only get it from a vet

It's called Capstar, but it's only a temporary measure - you'd have to be giving it to your animals every couple of days to keep the fleas off them!!

Get some a treatment from a vet that is also a preventative ie. Frontline or Revolution. These are liquids in a pipette, called 'spot-ons' that you apply to the skin on the back of the animal's neck and it works for at least a month.

I don't know about Capstar but there is an alternative treatment for flea control called: Flea Treats by FTI Pet Products, www.fleatreat.com (888) 353-2873. It is a vitamin B-complex and dogs love it. At least mine does. We have a 3 month old shih-tzu and I give it to her 3xday. I put it in one of her interactive toys (like buster cube or molecule ball) just before every meal and she loves it. So far so good, not one flea since the day she came to us and that is saying something: we live in Florida, in the Everglades and she has been completely flea free. Course, we also give her ginger as a training treat and (1/4 tsp) fresh, raw garlic with at least one meal a day.

The pill was probably Capstar. http://www.capstar.novartis.us/

ADD: Capstar is sold at vet offices. The only problem with Capstar is you need to keep dosing your dog for a few days for it to be effective. Not really the best product out there. I would recommend you try a topical, like Frontline Plus. Wishing you luck!

Flea collars are useless and many are toxic (Hartz) and have killed both dogs and cats. The only use for the collar is to put it in the vacuum cleaner to kill fleas when you go over the carpet.

The only pill I know of that does this is Capstar. I'm pretty sure you can only get it through a veterinarian.

you can buy capstar online you don't have to go to vet...it may be hard to give to cats they hate pills.
