I wonder why you think Hawaii would help? Just because it's a nice place that everyone seems to love? Two things are important to remember in making this decision. Firstly, you always take yourself with you, so while at first the excitement of the new place, new people etc might lift your mood, in the long run whatever is underlying the depression is going to assert itself again. Secondly, you cannot guarantee that things will last with your boyfriend, and if you don't have any long-term friends and support around, things could get very tough. But - if it still feels like a good idea, go for it. Who knows, it could be the best thing you ever did. And if not, you can always move again, difficult though that might feel.

Really need more info to be of help to you..Why are you feeling depressive? Running away from problems never solves them. If you are depressive becasue you are overworked and need a nice peaceful vacation, than Hawaii is your place. If you are having other problems such as with school or family, most likely you will still have those problems in Hawaii. Its expensive and difficult to get a job there unless you want to work in a restaurant. Are you depressed because your boyfriend is moving and you dont want him to go? Most college credits can be transferred to other colleges so dont worry about that. Maybe getting your own apartment or getting a roomate in the area you now live would be a new start for you. Try being self suffucient instead of relying on those nice people who let you live with them for free.
Good Luck whatever you decide.

Well - I think at first Hawaii would help. I mean, it is Hawaii ;o)
In the long run though, it is an island. You are stuck there and it is all sorts of expensive. Maybe you should talk to the people you are living with now and tell them that you want to try something new and go to Hawaii. Some how let them know that it may not be permanent (in case you don't like it) and hope they say that if you don't like it, you can move back with them.

It's usually not a good idea to make major life changes in the midst of a depression. [Have you been diagnosed with depression?]
You should think this through. What happens if you break up with your boyfriend? How will changing schools [high school or college?] affect your academic career and goals? How will you visit with family/friends back on the mainland [it's going to be expensive to fly back and forth]? Etc.

Any reason is a good reason to move to Hawaii, its relaxing, laid back, and like paradise year-round. On the down side, if you don't have a lot of money or don't get a well paying job there, it could be really hard to get by, since gas, food, and just about anything else there is really expensive.

At first Hawaii seems awesome but it does get old.Not alot to do and I personally got claustrophobic knowing I couldn't just get in a car and drive away.

If understood you correctly, you would be moving with your boyfriend and have a place to stay - I say go for it; if it doesn't work out, you could always return home.
