Why is it everyone has to attack one another? Everyone needs to learn to respect that some people don't beleive the same thing as you, and thats FINE. There is nothing wrong with a civil conversation about opinions, but the "cyber attacks" are not only stupid, but they show a real lack of respect for others.

PS- By saying that you or your ideas are better than others puts you right with the KKK and Nazis saying they are superior.... That goes for both sides... Just some more food for thought

I would have to agree with you - peoples debate isnt of substance but of name calling. I guess in some sick way it makes people feel better about themsleves. But i think your right - way to bring it up in a non-confrentational way - thank you!

I was actually going to bring a similar point up, myself.

I agree with you on one level; attacking each other at the drop of a pen is really getting old. There's no reason to bash. Even if you disagree with me there's no reason to start e-shouting, and vice versa.

On the other hand, I can't fully respect other's belief systems because my God says that all others are false and are leading them to an eternity of death and punishment.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." -- John 14:6

"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: " -- Deuteronomy 30:19

Still, I believe it's wrong and ineffective for Christians to use this as a reason to put the person down. Going personal is not going to work. Don't throw the baby away with the bath water, folks.

Sorry but you are just as ignorant of what atheists and agnostics are as the persecuting christians!! ATHEIST - someone who does not believe in a God – any God – not just the Christian one. But that does not mean they do not hold strong moral or religious beliefs! They can follow any religion that does not have a god and there are a lot of those!! Like BUDDHISM – Religious teaching from Buddha and his followers that by destroying greed, hatred and delusion (the cause of all suffering) man can attain perfect enlightenment!! Add christians and muslims together and they amount to just under a third of the world population the majority of the rest is made up of atheists and religions without gods!! So they are in the majority here!!! And most agnoistics such as yourself post more like christians!! So why not look at why they are christian and the difference between christian, atheist and agnostic in the real world?!! Acceptance of a supernatural claim tends to promote cooperative social relationships. This communication demonstrates a willingness to accept, without scepticism, the influence of the speaker in a way similar to a child's acceptance of the influence of a parent. By encouraging this kind of behavior where the most intense social relationships occur it facilitates the lack of skeptcism and deters more open minded thinking. They are christian because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren!! Atheists have the intelllect to see through the conditioning and escape into the real world!! Agnostics have just enough intellect to see through the conditioning but lack the courage to leave the conditioning completely!! Christians are prisoners of the brainwashing!!

You stated:

"By saying that you or your ideas are better than others puts you right with the KKK and Nazis saying they are"

OK, let us test your statement:

I think understanding that people are gay and that they are normal humans and should be welcomed into society is a BETTER idea than demonizing and spreading propaganda about them.

Does that make me no better than Nazis or the KKK? You do remember what the Nazis and KKK did to blacks and homosexuals?

Also, are you saying that your ideas for discourse are better than others?

Does that make you no better than the KKK or Nazis?

etc....

I certainly agree that the level of answers and questions can always be raised, but I strongly disagree with your theory as above.

When Creationists, who were ridiculed out of the scientific forum, shift tactics and take their crusade to the political platform to have laws changed so that their beliefs are taught in public biology and history classes as fact, so that children are forced to answer questions according to the book of Genesis or face failing grades, the time for civil conversation is long past.

Edit: Hey, here's a private message I got from Skyy in reference to my post here, isn't this great?

"From: Skyy

Subject: Dumbass

Message: You are freaking ignorant. Is God not still in the pledge of allegience or whatver? Who are you to say that ... nvm...you lose! "

For the record, I'm talking about a Kansas school board (among others) decision to use the Bible as a literal, factual reference in biology and history class.

I agree. But "cyber attacks" are fun, free and build character. So enjoy your time on here, you'll soon develop the thick skin that is needed.

Agreed, to some degree.

I tend to respect religions that promote open-mindedness more than others.

I never hold it against the religion itself though. Most often, they're fanatic zealots that are closed-minded & rude and tend to pick & choose what parts of their religion to follow.

You are so right, but i guess that humans just have a natural longing to be superior to others...

just a little religious debate is fun though, of course my religion wins, lol.

I'm not religious ... Religion is Man's way to find God , Christianity is God finding Humanity

There is nothing religious about God , for he is Spiritual

And though I agree with your statement/comment , some people don't follow or agree to that
