So I need to get mine out...and like everyone else, I am terrified...I have never had any type of surgery, or been put "out" Anyone wanna share their experiences??

Oh yeah, and do they give you a pain killer pill RIGHT after you wake up up from anethesia, or do you take it after you get home?

Thank you!

my surgery was a breeze. 50 minutes tops including putting me under. i had all four of them fully exposed, two full size molars and two mutant little things. wiht my shallow roots, they popped right out. didn't even require stitches. i was giving a perscription for vicodin, but I found that advil did just fine for me. They do not give you the pain med at the office. Only a perscription for it. If you are being put under, please have somebody else drive you there and home. i was barely able to walk to the car I was so tired.

i was actually more terrified of being put under than of the actual surgery itself. I had never done that before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I also don't have that great of veins in my arms and I wasn't sure how they were going to do that for the IV.

I had mine out.
2 a year ago, and 2 this last march.
It's not bad at all! and I'm 17. I had my first ones out when I was 15.
You go in, they give you an IV, and then you slowly go to sleep haha, its actually kind of fun.

It doesn't hurt, it just aches after a couple of days, the stitches come out easily.
Just don't eat anything hard and don't drink out of straws.
You take a pain killer so many hours after it, you're going to want to sleep for a while, get cold things to eat [ ice cream, yogurt, Popsicles ].

Good luck! Its not so bad!

Not to scare you but I had a horrible experience with mine. I had to have mine surgically removed and I was sick for a week from it. I like you have never been put out before and all of that went fine. They did give me pain pills right away when I woke up. It was just a very uncomfortable experience. But others I have talked to were fine with theirs. I think it is different for everyone. Good luck. Get lots of jello and popcicles!

make sure an oral surgeon is doing the work. my regular dentist thought he could do it and in the process damaged a nerve and left me with no feeling in my botton lip and gumline.... it is best to be put out and have a friend drive you home. otherwise take the pain killer rite away and by the time you get home it should start kicking in.... also eat a bunch b4 you go in cause you'll be able to only drink shakes and liquids or mushy foods and dont smoke or you'll get dry socket!! otherwise you should be a ok!! good luck!

It is scary if you think about it.. but in all reality it's REALLY not that bad at all, you are numb and asleep the whole time ( if you go that route ) and they give u a prescription for pain killers and you fill it ASAP but don't worry because you'll still be numb anyways, it wears off in like 6 hours or so.

Dont worry, thats where you syke yourself out.

I had mine all cut out at 16 yrs old. The procedure was simple. It took about 20 minutes. I was given Codeine afterwards and never even used all of it. It was not scary or hard at all. Very easy! No worries! :)

Depends on whether they are impacted.

I was put under using nitrous and versed and woke up with ice packs on my face sometime later.

It never really hurt at any point, but when the anestheic wears off they will hook you up with some vicodin or something similar.

Go for it, you shouldn't feel a thing, with all the med. tex we have today, and pain killers at hand. You should breeze thought OK. I did, and I'm a wimp when it comes to pain.

I had four of them removed at once a few years ago. Two were impacted and they had to put me to sleep to do it. It never hurt and I don't remember any of it. I drove myself home, and wentback to work the next day. And I HATE going to the dentist, but it really wasn't that bad.
