Is it possible to get one from eating 'dirty' food? Like fruits/veggies that haven't been washed? If not, how else could you get one?

Just curious, thanks. =)

Drinking cranberry juice is always recommended, because it is acidic and will make your pee more acidic, helping to kill bacteria in your urethra. Drinking vinegar would have the same effect but tastes worse! You can also buy cranberry tablets from health food stores and pharmacies that you can take. Another recommended prevention measure is to always pee after sex, but many women will just force out a little bit. The idea is to get a strong enough stream going to flush out bacteria, so drinking cranberry juice an hour before sex would be best, then right after sex you would be able to pee enough for it to help. Dressing in loose clothing, increasing your intake of Vitamin C, and taking 2 capsules three times per day of Echinacea to help fight the bacteria. As for a kidney infection, you really want to get antibiotics for that. Sorry to say it because that's not the answer you're looking for, but kidney infections can get very serious and you don't want your organs to shut down or stop functioning properly.

No, you aren't going to get a kidney infection from eating nonwashed fruit and veggies. Women get kidney infections more than men and the main two reasons are not pleasant. The first reason is not urinating after sex and properly cleaning yourself afterwards. The second main reason is that a woman may not wipe correctly after going to the bathroom. You should wipe front to back. Kidney infections are serious. You should go to the doctor right away if you think you are having a problem.

Bacteria works it's way up the urethra & ureters and then you could present with a UTI or ultimatley a kidney infection.

I'm not sure, I don't think you get a kidney infection that way. I think it can have something to do with drinking alot of soda. I'm sure there are many other contributing factors.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

females have a 3 cm urethra. infectious organisms live in and on us and when introduced to someplace they dont belong our immune systems have a fight on.

Males get UTI/ kiddney infections alot les becasue of the longer urethra.

Catheters, active sex life, anything that introduces foreign material will casue infections.

I just know of one way and that is by not drinking enough water to flush out all of the impurities through your kidneys.

Too many toxins and not enough cleansing, ie...too much coffee, alcohol...etc.

I don't know about dirty food though.

The way to prevent it is plenty of water.

You would get it by having a UTI that goes untreated.
