How can you shake off Chimera tags and fire using a PS2 controller with an adapter? (i.e. without Sixaxis)?

I've been playing Resistance multiplayer offline with 3 friends using two sixaxis controllers and two old PS2 controllers with PS2 to PS3 contoller adapters. Everything works fine except that if you get tagged by the Chimeran machine gun or lit on fire, the way to shake off the tag or put out the fire is to shake the sixaxis. Has anyone found a way to do this without sixaxis motion controls? Could the "shake" command possibly be mapped to a different controller button???

The only way to shake off tags is by shaking the controller.
