I work nights, and my weekends are usually not Saturday/Sunday, so pretty much the phone rings at my equivalent of 7 AM on a weekend A LOT. I don't answer it usually, because if I get out of bed and talk, I have a hard time falling asleep again.

I have a machine and I can hear the message. So no, I wait to see who it is. And as a single mom, I've already been up for an hour by 7am weekend. 2 hours by 7am weekday.

My phone is right next to my bed. I would look at the caller ID. If it is someone that might actually need me I answer. If it's a friend who usually just calls to say hi, I let it go to voicemail. But, I'm still in bed since the phone is right there, so no, I don't get out of bed to answer it.

Only if it was my parents (who live in Europe and get confused with the time difference a lot). As for anyone else, leave a voicemail! Although I work on the weekends and would already be at work at 7am, but I'm thinking 7am calls on my days off- no thanks!

The phone is next to the bed - so I don't get up - but I do answer it because it might be a family emergency - noone in my family is stupid enough to call us that early unless it is a real emergency.

If I pick it up and it's not a family member - then watch out - someone's getting an ear full of early morning p*ss and vinegar.

Absolutely! It could be an emergency, and it is more likely that it IS in fact an emergency if a call comes at an odd time of day. If you answer it and it is NOT an emergency...a friend wanting to chat or something stupid, then you read them the riot act about calling you at such an ungodly hour and go back to bed.

I have a 3 1/2 year old and a 2 year old. By 7:00 a.m. I've been up for (usually) 30 minutes already, so yes--I'd answer the phone.

Not usually. If it's next to the bed sometimes I will. Otherwise I'll let the machine pick it up and listen to see if I should get out of bed to answer it. The answering machine is in our bedroom. (Yes, we're like the only people in the world with a machine and not VM. VM sucks, a machine is great.)

HELL. NO. I am a serial screener, anyways. I always let my phone go to voicemail because I hate talking on the phone. At 7am, you might as well not bother and dial!
