what can I do with my 7 year old child? Got a phone call from the school saying he flushed another childs hat and gloves down the toilet. The other day the school called cause he hit a girl in the stomach, and he disrupts the class, etc. We are having him tested for ADHD and things like that. They gave him a IQ test, and he scored high. But, what can I do, besides time-outs, grounding, taking things away from him, etc, to control him? I have tried anything I can think of.

Your doing it. So, give yourself a break. Do not beat yourself up on his actions. My son is almost 17 this friday and is ADHD/ODD.
Just make sure you keep a folder for paper work from the doctors and school reports. A jounal helps to for out burst so you know later on what was going on that day. Plus when yu talk to the doctor you have it all on hand.

Good luck hun.

Be consistent with him. Consistent means of punishment for bad behavior will teach him that for every bad action, he will receive a punishment. But you have to be consistent. Also, give him praise when he does something right. Be consistent with the praise, too. Don't give up. He may be doing the bad behavior for attention. With a child, any attention whether good or bad is better than none. Good luck to you and to him.

Go to school with him and sit in class. That might embarrass him enough to quit. Hopefully that will show him how serious you are about his behavior too.

Good luck
