The Bible predicted that there is a coming invasion of Israel. It predicted Russia will be the leader, and will have a vast array of allies. It is amazing, because there are Russian scientists in Iran right now teaching the Iranians how to build nuclear weapons, enrich uranium, etc. Can anyone elaborate on this coming invasion?

Um, budleit, the Bible DOES mention Israel by name. True, the Bible doesn't say Russia, because in biblical days the word 'Russia' didn't exist yet. However, the word 'Gog' appears. And most historians have confirmed that the country of Gog in the bible is modern day Russia. (Ezekiel 38:1-23)

They won't get closer than the Bakka [sp?] Valley (near Megiddo).

this seemed to be a dominant fundie theory in the 70s and most of the 80s. It's since fallen out of favor since the end of the Cold War.

The problem with prophesies isthat if they're not vague enough, they get left by the wayside, and if they're too vague, they can be warped to fit any given situation. The Russian permutation was an extension of the 'godless Commies' going to start Armageddon, while the 'righteous Christians' of the west (esp the US) would prevail. The Cold War's long gone, so new permutations have and will continue to arise. They'll be just as wrong as the hundreds or thousands of guesses/interpretations that came before.

The bible doesn't mention Russia or Israel by name so what you are saying is just interpretation. Could be true may not be true.

Yes I agree with you. Maybe maybe not, It is purely a theory. Also Magog is suppose to be China. If the theory is true, they are suppose to attack Israel with all their other enemies in the final battle of Armagedon. It is theory though but that is the way it is panning out so far.

I guess will find out one way or the other.

what invasion? the 2000-year old book *predicted* it? Russians are not going to invade anything

as for the scientists working in Iran - Russia has had good diplomatic relationship with many of the Eastern countries

so, forget about "the prediction"

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes and aeroplanes, Lenny Bruce is not afraid....It's the end of the world as we know it....No it's not, don't be ridiculous. Biblical prophecies are too obscure to be taken seriously. Besides, I think you're just trying to manipulate people with fear, just like a good little Christian.
