Don't you think that they are the same people as they were before they died?! I wonder why we think they're more important without their bodies. (I know they're more mysterious)(People we wouldn't give a "flip" about in this world become "super special" when they lose their bodies...It doesn't really matter what kind of person they were.)

I guess I should have said..."What makes some people THINK that ghosts are more special than people with bodies?" There are people on earth who people never talk to..but if they become "ghosts"..some people go searching for them.

""ieatpoet"... then isn't talking on Y/A about the same as talking to spirits?..we" can't see each other and can say and do whatever"..and there are people on here some people probably wouldn't give the time of day to if they saw them on the street.Yet...we want to talk to them on Y/A.

jana..I DO understand wanting to hear from loved ones after they die. But some people want to talk to people they know nothing about...and they feel honored to talk with them. ..I guess it's all about finding out what's on the other side...except that spirits can lie too.

I just want to add that the first time I ever talked to anyone on the comp. was in a chat site or something...and it scared me silly. It was as scary as talking with a spirit. (But I don't feel that way on Y/A...I wonder why it's different.)

Sentient...What part of this shows "disrespect" for the dead.? All I'm saying is that when people try to contact "spirits"..they don't realize who they're contacting. They could be contacting really evil people...but they think they're special because they're spirits.

It is good that you added your extra qualifier here. There are individuals that are drawn to the study of life-after-death. There are many people that find such a pursuit and utter waste of time and are very dismissive of the entire possibility. There are more things we do not understand, than what we do. Even when we, as a cumulative people, think we are sure of a certain rule - along comes the wrench in the works. The unexplained is a vast plain and it is enticing to explore. From speaking to friends, family, co-workers and interesting folks that I have met in brief, I have gathered that there is a shift in the openness to the idea that a person that has passed may contact or want contact with a person or people they left behind. The reverse is also true. People need closure. It is good to know that those that have passed are in a good place and it give the one remaining behind hope and peace concerning their loss.

It is something us human beings say "TO HONOUR AND RESPECT" the dead, something which you obviously have no idea about. Neanderthals even managed to respect and bury all their dead, even if they weren't a decent human. They understood mortality; how life is a journey and burying is saying goodbye at the end of the great life journey.
Oh yeah, before I forget, when a person crosses over, their souls are judged and they visit spiritual schools to learn how to ascend - basically learning from that life's mistake's and ascending spiritually. Then they get judged on whether they can go back to earth. Once born again as a human, the human needs to remember all it's spiritual lessons from it's spiritual school so it doesn't screw up; so it can find and follow it's destiny.
Now do you understand why we respect all the dead?

The reason People are all about ghost's is because they dont know anything about them. Ghosts could just be people wandering around in some world we dont know about trying to find a good price on a news paper, but since its something that we really cant find out about, its all...ooooo look..oooo I bet there trying to communicate...oooo I bet there angels...Its the same thing with boxes. If you put something in a box then put a note on it that says dont look, people will be all like....ooooo i bet its something fantastic...or oooo i bet it's gonna blow up.
Thats why there super special, because we dont know a damn thing about them, and its facination.

That's a good question... What makes people think that when the die, they will become supernatural.. why would they become better dead then alive?? the answer is Not!!! When you die, you die.. there is no such thing as ghost, or disturbed spirits.. When you die, you die.. The dead no nothing.. Until they are risen by the true Supernatural, and that is God.. So you know if they're are two supernaturals in this world good and evil, whom do you think is portraying ghost? or spirits??

hi denie,
i dont think it makes people more important after they die, or we see them as being more important,.. i think its just the thoughts of looking into the after life, and being curious with peoples spirits after they die, no matter who they are..
people are just alot more fasinated by the spirit world, (most but not all) so it really doesnt matter who they are, unless its friends or family.. so at the end of the day its just people trying to tap into the spirit world, and it doesnt matter who the spirit is, as long as we are making a discovery, or just trying to learn more....at one stage every single person must wonder what happens to us when we die, as its something that every single one of us is going to experience death....so it wouldnt matter who the spirit is, but instead where do they go and what happens to us after we die... assuming death isnt the end....

you don't gain any super power when you die. There is nothing more special after death. your energy still runs down, you have to recharge. and at some point your energy will finish dissipating. When you die you do retain some of your memory and intelligence. Science is looking at the possibility of transferring a persons memories and intelligence to robots at some point, if they were to do this, would not the machine then be alive since it would be human? and if a humans intelligence were to be transferred, would that not be proof of life after death?

Interesting angle here Denie. I think one possible answer is ghost hunters aren't interested in the people so much as the phenomenon.

They aren't special, they're a drain. They take up valuable real estate by being buried, pass over debt to family members who already have debt of their own and, and....
Well the first two are good enough.
