True Christians were not in the Crusades or anything that promoted violence, no true Saints did not commit to any atrocities at all. This is a misconception that is used against Christianity for true Christians represent Christ as in being Christlike and Christ never induce force except once, when He knock over the money changer's tables and said, You shall not make my Father's House a Den of Thieves. It is a house of Prayer... The Temple needed cleansing as it does today but today our Body is the very Temple of God to dwell in and if you allow Him, Jesus will clean it up and leave you pure and powerful, and I can guarantee You will not want to pick up a sword to kill but to love God and those around you...

Christians are not getting to distance themselves from the atrocities that folk have committed interior the call of Christ. It particularly works against the church homes interior the long-term. Christianity, like countless different prepared faith (or prepared atheism), has had greater effective than its trouble-free share of rat bastards that have abused their power and exploited the less fortunate, which makes it greater durable for the truthful Christians to proselytize.

People commit atrocities! They just wear different hats at different times.

It's really inconsistent to logic to blame today's Christians for atrocities of the past since modern Christianity brought us our great American freedoms, equal rights for blacks and women, child labor laws, etc.

I would think so, but isn't it the old adage, " confess your sins and you will be forgiven." ?

I don't know, Dawn. I, myself, do not claim any specific religion. I just know that I believe in God and I talk to him as often as I like. I don't think that I need to go through anyone to pray or communicate with him.

To answer your question the best that I can, I think that it is important to know if a person lives by ' their Standard of Morality', now, and try to be a descent person, Then, "No".
But, if they live their life in a way that they know is immoral and think that they can just be forgiven if it is confessed, (so casually), then I believe them to be "inconsistant with their own standard of Morality.

Yes and they are still doing it, just a day or so ago, i saw a whole group of them feeding some hungry kids, and giving some homeless people some clothes and blankets. Imagine such a thing, the next thing you know, they will even try to see that the sick get medical care. The nerve of some people.

So to keep consistancy, are you going to take responsibility for all the atrocities our ancestors committed against the Native Indians?

Of course. But since everyone is inconsistent with their own standard of morality (i.e. are imperfect), what's the point of calling Christians out for it?

@ Occam: It seems very naive to believe people never make mistakes, no matter what their standard of morality is. And what you call "impractical", I call "high".

Absolutely. We've all sinned (Romans 3:23).

Fortunately, being good is not what gets a person into heaven. (Ephesians 2:8-9).
