"How can we better protect our children?"

Send all your children to Christian private schools and stay out of the public ones. Wow, you don't have much faith in your own children do you? Do you know how sad & pathetic that is?

Did you know Christians are actively doing the same thing.

Elwood Bartlett is opening a school of Paganism not Satanism. Learn the difference.

Do not be so closed minded check into it before you point the finger,. Considering most of the so called Christian Holidays and such are taken from Pagan which have been around way longer.

So its satanism to learn what plants do? Well better stop buying asprin, tylenol, cough medicines, eye drops because your saying those christians that use those are using satan products since started by a Shaman, or a Witch Doctor at some point. botany would them be considered a Pagan art since it is a strong part of the beliefs. astrology, and the list goes on.

Check into it before you point a finger, as you can see the witch hunts still happen today as they have in the past!

*hits head*
Charmed- Witches.. Witches are not Satanist, they are Pagans (well real witches are). Charmed was lame show anyways.
Heros- random people with super powers, like most comic books youve ever seen. Still not Satanic.
Dexter-dude who is too into killing. Also, not Satanic.
Buff-Vampires arent Satanic.. folk lore, but not Satanic.
Elwood Bartlett- Wiccan... Wiccans are Pagan!! Pagans arent Satanic! And he said he would open a school that taught Wicca, Shamanism, Druidry and money management (because he's an accountant).

You can protect your kids by 1. Not letting them watch inappropriate TV (as some of the aformentioned shows are) and 2.Giving them as much knowledge as you can so they can tell the difference between religions and tv shows. You might want to do some reading too because one more time.. Pagans are not Satanic!

Please tell me you are joking.

You can better protect children by being a conscientious parent and not raising them in a fearful, superstitious box.

No need for the government to enforce your preferences. Satanism has no connection to Charmed or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They are shows designed to entertain audiences and make use of popular folklore or cultural traditions, usually associated with Halloween. Almost every human being knows that there are no such things as talking cats, men who pop up in a smoke whirl, or people with superhero powers to save other people. It's fiction.

Why don't you actually look up Satanism (especially the sec led by the guy who named his son Xerxes, lol) before you buy into this fear mongering hype?

CG effects in Charmed do not equal Wicca, Satanism, or even belief in the supernatural. Elwood Bartlett is not opening a school on Satanism, but on Pagan practices generally grouped under the contemporary term "Wicca." As non-Christians, most do not profess belief in your gods (or devils).

Why don't you learn about the topics you feel passionately about, before you harm the childhood of your kids by removing any innocent or educational experiences they may have? And people wonder why there is so much rebellion among youth...

Elwood Bartlett is the Wiccan right? He's starting a WICCAN school, not a satanic school. Satan does not exist for Wiccans so it'd be awfully difficult for him to start a school based on the teachings of Satan. And if you're talking about Dexter which is on Showtime, good grief, that guy's a serial killer, not a Satanist....believe it or not there is a difference. And as for Charmed, the lead character, Piper, was Catholic, the second lead character Phoebe, was a Buddhist both on the show and in real life. Somehow I don't think they were promoting Satanism. Especially since they were fighting evil throughout the entire show. The same with Buffy -- they were fighting evil on that show too as are the Heroes. You seemed to have picked (with the exception of Dexter) shows that pertain to fighting evil and demons and demonic powers. Even Dexter, in his own way, fights evil since he only targets and kills murderers.

I would think you'd applaud those shows for their valiant fight AGAINST satanism (evil), not dwell under the delusion that they're FOR satanism. Not to mention the OBVIOUS....they're not reality! They are for entertainment! Good grief. Given your logic, you'd be better off censoring and/or boycotting the news or CNN since they show, quite graphically, what real evil in this world can accomplish.

As a parent you have choices. If you don't like the television shows listed don't allow your children to watch them. There are all kinds of teacher's with varying backgrounds teaching in public schools. Once again you have options you don't have to send your child to a particular school. Almost every area of the country has private schools or you have the option to homeschool. Elwood Bartlett can do whatever he wants with his money and since he is not asking the state to subsidies his school he can choose whatever curriculum he wishes.

"Charmed" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" have both been cancelled for a while. And what does the religion of a school teacher matter? As long as they don't promote it in the classroom it's irrelevant. And Elwood Bartlett is free to do as he chooses with his own money.

Normally, I won't get into religious or political debate, however this hits a little closer to home.

Do you realize that by generalizing everything under one flag of "satanism" you become that which you hate?

Having a closed-mind to things other than what you believe is no better than what you are speaking out against.

"Love thy neighbor as thyself" Mark 12:31
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" John 8:7
"Judge not, lest ye be jugded" Matt 7:2-5

(if I've misquoted, I apologize)

As long as you are teaching your children what you believe and what you want them to know, you are protecting them with everything you are able to do already. As some people have suggested, try removing multi-media from your home and home-school them. Put them into private Christian schools, but also remember... a computer connected to the internet is also considered multi-media and you should monitor the time spent very carefully.

I would advise teaching tolerance as well.

God Bless.

Really? Do you know any?

Those TV shows have nothing to do with religion, only money.

Elwood Bartlett is a Wiccan, not a Satanist. Get your religions correct.

You can protect your children by not teaching them hate.

Most children know that these shows are only TV shows and aren't real. Also, I've seen at least one or two episodes of each of these programs, and I don't remember them ever talking about satanism or performing any type of satanic ritual. On what are you basing your opinion that they're satanic?

I don't know who Elwood Bartlett is, but rest assured my kids won't attend his school.

Personally--I'm more worried about my children being kidnapped by some pervert child molester on the playground, grocery store, etc. than I am about my kids watching some goofy, unreal TV shows.

Elwood Bartlett is opening a school for Wicca not satanism.

Rock and roll in the 1950's was bringing kids to satanism or so they said.

They were wrong then and you are wrong now.
