The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and Earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven and is seated
at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

Chris said:
Grace through faith saves.
Love comes after salvation.
I reply:
It looks as if you are saying that if anyone who truly loves, as in a sacrificial love then they are saved since love comes AFTER salvation.
From previous post, I doubt that is what you are saying. Would you say that faith is greater than love? If you say faith is greater than love then what do you make of
1 Cor 13:13 "...these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love."
God Bless

The only thing that is required for salvation is faith in the finished work of Jesus to save us from our sins. After that we have a sure hope, made more sure by the sealing of the Holy Spirit. And we are a new creation, and are instructed to love our brothers and sisters in Christ, and our neighbors as ourselves.

No I believe that believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord is what saves you. Faith, hope and love are all neccessary to make Christ Lord of your life but it is not required to make Him Savior...but then how can you not have faith, hope and love for someone who saved you from the pit of hell?

Yes, most definitely. Not only love but unconditional love for all people. Our most important reason for being in this life is to learn that unconditional love for all of mankind, to further the eternal family. Christ was our teacher and our exemplar. Only by His teachings and through His example can we be saved and achieve exaltation.

Yes love is required..For some reason some people think that it is necessary to be hateful and scare people into believing a certain religion...but who wants to be in a religion like that? I think the most important aspect in all religions is Love.

The love of God is even more than a precept binding the human conscience; it is also, as Le Camus observes, "the principle and goal of moral perfection."

Everything about us is based on love. It's why God created us, why He continues to call us to Him by faith, and why He gave His only Son to save us. The whole thing is about love.
